So now we know that the Justice Department pressured US Attorneys |
|
We also know that Fitzgerald did not indict Rove -- or Cheney -- or Armitage -- or . . . . allege a conspiracy.
That doesn't mean Fitzgerald was pressured, but it also doesn't mean he wasn't.
Just why isn't Fitzgerald pushing further on investigating the possibility of a conspiracy?
I think that the American people should at least be asking these questions.
We all want to think Fitzgerald is a great guy, but why wasn't Libby tried before or during the 2006 election?
Just asking.

This is a smear. A very Republican-like smear.

Never. I think Fitzgerald could have gone after Cheney more aggressively. I do not buy the Armitage excuse for the outing. I think there is a good chance there was a conspiracy to discredit Wilson. I do not worship Fitzgerald the way a lot of DUers do. I want to see a vigorous investigation by the Congress. I think the Bush administration has used the procedures for classifying information for political purposes to an excessive extent. No president is above the law, however, the Bush administration has used the processes for classifying and declassifying information in a way that constitutes an abuse of power.
The e-mails exchanged in the Gonzales Justice Department suggest that prosecutors who were not "loyal" to Bush and who did not support Bush's agenda were sacked. When I read that, I have to ask myself how the rest of them, including Fitzgerald, survived. Many have praised Fitzgerald's caution. I'm not so sure it is so praiseworthy. He had a lot of evidence against Cheney, but all we got to see was the cloud, not clear facts that I believe Fitzgerald had.

any investigation done on this administration's abuse of power never makes it all the way to the top. I believe people are constantly being threatened not to go to far with their investigations. We will never know the extent of abuses we have had over last 6 years for many, many years to come.
