Specter's position on fired attorneys: use DOJ talking points! (email)
interesting email on page 21 of part 4:

january 25, 2007
from: Rebecca Seidel to: 10 DOJ people

re: SJC hearing on USA firings
(the first hearing, february 2007)

"just got off the phone with Matt miner on Specter's staff who called to discuss the hearing. He said we will be getting an invite shortly. Has there been further thought on the DOJ witness?
He asked for a few things......

He is organizing a republican amendment strategy so the dems don't divide and conquer. he asked if we have any amendments to please draft and get them to him. I resent him the talking points (as he had given his copy away) he realized we had a lot of info in there.

so specter wants the DOJ to actually write the amendments, and uses their talking points directly. This says to me that he should be relieved of his position in this particular investigation! He is supposed to represent the senate, which is supposed to represent the people. If he gets his words from the people he is supposed to be investigating...

1. WTF?? Where did this/these e-mails come from??
If this is true, then yes, I agree, he's in no position to investigate shit.
But then, I don't think any reThuglican is in any position to investigate shit. It's the fox guarding the henhouse: they're all corrupt, they're all filthy, there is neither honor nor honesty nor ethics nor integrity in any one of them, so how can any of them investigate ANYTHING, particularly internally???

It's ridiculous.

5. Specter should be permanently imprisoned for this.
Isn't he still pretending that he doesn't know how the U.S. attorney replacement provision got in to the Patriot Act?

6. Oh, I just love it when we get to actually SEE how the sausage is made!
All this does is put a very deep, dare I say FIRE SALE discount on anything Arlen has to say on this matter. He might as well tattoo "FUCKING BUSHCO SHILL" on his forehead for the duration!!!

Hell, LOBBYISTS write legislation. Nothing wrong with DOJ doing it, though in this instance it's a bit, well, craven. It's chances of passage are another issue altogether.

7. I read this email as well, didn't surprise me at all. Does specter
have a certain type of outside interest he might be getting blackmailed for? I read around here somewhere he has a girlfriend or had one, plus his wife.

11. Thanks, Malasie. I have followed the scumbag for many years.
He has always been dirty. could not understand why so many thought he was ok. One thing. I will never forget him during the Anita Hill/Clarence Thomas hearing. That is just one thing that comes to mind.

10. FINALLY! . . This puts the lie to all Specter apologists who
are suckered in by his honest sounding rhetoric. He is twice as slimy as those who get their tongues caught in the wringer.

(This is SO recommended. . . Front page material if I ever saw it!!)

13. Thanks for putting some light on Specter's role in all this.
Just read that he's planning to run again in 2008. He needs to go.
