Did anyone have a clue this (recent) Kerry stuff was coming? |
|
Drudge makes it sound like there's been buzz among the campaigns, and the press --

1. Sure we knew it was coming. |
|
Kerry's the front-runner now. It's got nothing to do with buzz, everything to do with the press, the right-wing propaganda machine, unhappy losers, and human nature.

many people have said there is tremendous pressure to end rival campaigns soon, so that it would be bush vs. kerry
and bush could start the machine

4. Odds are it's common knowledge if you travel in the right circles. |
|

Disclaimer: I won't go to Drudge to read the "story" so I have no idea when the alleged affair took place, but...)
If the affair took place in D.C., then the odds are that it's common knowledge if you travel in the right circles; I'd expect that most of the "boys" know what the other "boys" are up to at any given moment. ("Say, Sam, that's some pretty sweet "legislative assistant" you've got working in your office these days! I'll bet she's really keeping your polls up!")
The same thing hold strue in other venues.
And if the other campaigns touch those same venues, then they probably knew, too.

But we've all heard rumors of Rove with a huge "Kerry" file just waiting to be released. I'm guessing this is the first salvo, to take the attention off of AWOL.

I heard Gore (or his people) didn't pick him because of the medal throwing incident, which to me is beyond stupid. Also, they wanted someone more in line with the DLC, hence Lieberman, who had been one of a handful of dems to publicly criticize Clinton for this "moral failings."
In any case, I'm not believing any of this Kerry affair BS, but it does show how ugly this entire campaign is going to be.

11. I asked about potential Bimbo Eruptions here 4 weeks ago |
|
All I got was insults from his supporters and suggestions that I was trying to plant anti-Kerry lies.
This sucks big time.
Kerry pisses me off, because he KNEW to an absolute certainty that this would leak out. People running for prez live in a fricking glass bowl.
The IWR was done for his political advantage (or so he thought at the time) and now this crap. His ego is showing if he thought this would never see the light of day.
He should have backed off and supported one of the other great candidates we had, but nooooo, Kerry had to be the big cheeze. Thanks for being such a great Dem leader Kerry.
We are sooooo screwed.

that we are screwed. Bimbo eruptions are fatal, given the right timing, i.e. before getting elected. Even after, they cause trouble and distraction. But, and this is important, Kerry has been in politics a long time. He has a record that will be examined, with an electron microscope. Everything he has ever done or said will be used against him. for instance, I think the Jane Fonda stuff is going to hurt him much worse than the AWOL stuff will *. Why? One reason is that what we have is just speculation. Kerry is on the record as calling American troops murderers, rapists, and war criminals. Now, whether he was right or wrong, this is going to tick off a lot of voters that might have voted *. Ane the WH has not even begun to fight!!
Look at their HUGE war chest.

by democrats such as you know who. But just wait till it's 1 on 1 with Bush. Rove will won't do this anymore or Bush will be hit so hard his head will be spinning as he departs the White House.

I don't want to run against Bush in November while being beaten over the head with 'Clinton's cock' all over again.

is that no true candidate be annointed before the convention. Whoever is perceived as the frontrunner is going to get shot at by Rove and his cabal. If the race tightens, the republicans have to wait and see instead of digging up dirt and falsehoods.
Just look at what they did with my man, Dean, and now what they're doing with Kerry.

They won't give a shit in 2004 either, even in the extremely unlikely event that anything from the Rove machine turns out to be true.

are effective during a campaign. After a President is in office, it's another story. Furthermore, most people get in trouble, not for what they did, by the COVER-UP. Sending the woman out of the country was the worst possible mistake.
Always assuming that the story is true. If not, it won't be that big of a deal, and might backfire.

16. Office romances are seldom secret, and any politician knows, or should |
|
know that no matter how skilled his staff, or how talented he is at convincing both sides of any issue that he is on THEIR side, whether the issue is war, equal rights, or who do you really love, that in a political campaign, anything he has ever done, whether public or private, will be discussed by somebody sometime with the news media.
It is, or should be, one of the things one considers when making the decision to seek public office, especially at the national level.

it soulds like it was simmering about to boil over for a while, but it was clearly dumped today AFTER Clark got out.

20. Why are we so quick to believe this crap? |
|
We all know shit like this, and worse, will be thrown out against ANY candidate (I'm under no illusions that if it were Dean, the same would not be said). And Drudge?! Come on! Call me naive, but I'm not jumping on this one without further proof. Having said that, I would be disappointed in Kerry if this is true; not for actually having an affair, but for running when he knew this would become public knowledge and endanger our chances.

25. DU had discussion about old stuff from his first marriage separation.. |
|
I don't recall any talk of this allegation. There were reasonable people here worrying that the stuff from before Teresa would be dragged out. You know, dating before your divorce is final, but after you've separated. Which is completely fine... everyone does that. This story is a surprise to me. I'll await details.
