|
Edited on Wed Apr-04-07 12:42 PM by flpoljunkie
We're pleased to announce that President Jimmy Carter, whistle-blower Donald Vance, and Washington Post reporter Rajiv Chandrasekaran are this year's recipients of the Ron Ridenhour Prizes presented annually by The Nation Institute and the Fertel Foundation.
The awards will be officially made this afternoon, Wednesday, at a ceremony in Washington DC. CSPAN will be broadcasting the program live from the Press Club. Coverage begins today at 12:50 PM (ET).
President Jimmy Carter has been awarded The Ridenhour Courage Prize in recognition of his life-long defense of the public interest, his passion for social justice, and the courage he has displayed in speaking forthrightly on contentious and controversial subjects.

1. Good post. Jimmy Carter is a truckload of peaches. |
|
His admonition about weaning ourselves from Middle Eastern oil echoes loudly through the halls of government today.
And he's the sort of person who affirms the very best in everyone.
Dammit, I like the guy.

3. You know, flpoljunkie, I've watched C-span from time to time when Carter |
|
is on -- either a formal address or maybe an interview -- and he just lights up the joint.
And a word on Roslyn. What a hell of a nice person she is. So completely opposite from Barbara Bush or Nancy Reagan.
Jimmy and Roslyn are top-drawer folks. I love 'em.
