I think this is it. Check Mate. If the E-mails are indeed "deleted" or even withheld, that is a crime. It is nowadays impossible to permanently erase these e-mails without an intent to do so. Obstruction of justice-plain & simple.
The e-mails will be retrived if we have enough sense to subpeano the servers. And you better be sure Leahy knows what he's doing here so I think that will be forthcoming. They are obviously hiding a whole heaping pile of smelly stuff & whatever comes down I believe this is the beginning of the end. CHECK MATE MOTHERFUCKERS!!

including backup emails FROM THE SERVER is proof of obstruction of justice.

4. There is no "check mate" with these people. |
|
They'd throw the board up in the air and storm from the room before they'd concede "check mate." Which is bad for us, when you think about it. We're the chess board Chimpy will toss in the air when he finally realizes he's fucked.

6. This shows the contempt that bush/Rove have for the American people. |
|
Just give us the e-mails and let us decide if you aren't a bunch of crooks.

That's the big issue for me that this standoff will ultimately settle:
Is the Bush junta above the law or not?
If they are, it's conclusive evidence that the American Republic has finally breathed its last and has officially become an imperial dictatorship.
(With the push for a "unitary executive" and the Weekly Standard's claim that the president should have "near dictatorial power", I don't think I'm being hyperbolic at all).

10. What Could be Just as Important as Retrieving the Emails |
|
is determining HOW they were deleted. A computer glitch should leave a different signature than a deliberate erasure. And that's what may sink Rove.

11. If they haven't already replaced all the servers they're doing it today. |
|
Who's going to stop them? The other servers will be 'misplaced while we were attempting to preserve them for the investigation.'

If not this, then seriously, what would these people have to do?
You know what actually would be funny, if bush was the calculating mastermind. Did some satirist already do that, with a super smart bush dropping the dummy persona as soon as the cameras and reporters rolled out of the room?

15. SNL did that, with Reagan. |
|
As soon as the cameras left the room, he was speaking Russian with Gorbachev, French and/or German with other foreign leaders, explaining some complex theory (economic, maybe), etc. It was hilarious.
