Edwards' wife opens Iowa office for campaign
Edwards' wife opens Iowa office for campaign
By Meghan V. Malloy--Des Moines Register
Friday, April 13, 2007

----
Elizabeth Edwards, wife of Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards, was in Des Moines on Thursday to officially open her husband's Iowa campaign headquarters.

Edwards, 57, greeted and met with 75 people at the office at 712 E. Second St.

She joked with supporters and signed copies of her book, "Saving Graces."

Recently diagnosed with a recurrence of breast cancer, Edwards tried to keep the focus on her husband's run for the presidency.

She stressed throughout her 20-minute talk how John Edwards' campaign tries to focus on individuals taking action to change their country.

"This is not a campaign about John Edwards," Elizabeth Edwards said. "This is a campaign about how we - you and I - can change the country."

Health care for children and the conditions of veterans hospitals were some of the topics she touched upon.

After the ceremony, Edwards went to Ames to speak to the Iowa State Education Association's Delegate Assembly.

2. One of my friends was there
And got a hug from the Future First Lady.

:loveya: Elizabeth is so amazing.

I listened to a song by Anne Murray that seems to fit EE and John as they go on this journey.

The Other Side

Through out each life time - run rivers to cross
What if there's no life line and you're sinking or lost
Just believe in your direction
Let your heart explore
Cause you can't reach new horizons
Standing on the shore

There are mountains - we need to climb
But the mountains standing in the way are only in our minds
And the risk of all
So just listen to the voice that says
I'll catch you if you fall

On the other side of doubt is faith
On the other side of pain lies strength
The journey may seem endless
And You know the road is rough
But on the other side of fear... is love

For such a long time I put my dreams aside
The tides of change felt dangerous
The mountains seemed too high
But my dreams were slowly fading
As time went quickly by
So I held me breath with every step
Never knowing I would find...

On the other side of doubt is faith
On the other side of pain lies strength
The journey may seem endless
And You know the road is rough
But on the other side of fear... is love

What a future First Couple Looks Like

I know, I know. Polls change.

But I still like that Edwards is ahead there...

 Go Edwards Go!!

And Elizabeth Edwards would make the perfect first lady.
