Tancredo (R-Co) opens office in Bluffs to run for President |
|
Published Wednesday | April 11, 2007 Tancredo opens office in Bluffs BY ROBYNN TYSVER WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER
COUNCIL BLUFFS - Planting his flag in western Iowa, Republican Rep. Tom Tancredo has become the first presidential candidate in the 2008 race to open an office in Council Bluffs.
Tancredo, who hails from Colorado and has made illegal immigration his signature issue, plans to attend an open house Saturday at the office, 101 Pearl St.
He is one of more than a half-dozen candidates for the GOP nomination for president.
Steve Cates, chairman of the Pottawattamie County Republicans, said he doubted that any other GOP candidate would open an office in western Iowa until after a key Aug. 11 straw poll.
Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, a Democratic candidate, has hired a staff person in Council Bluffs but has yet to open a Bluffs office.
Tancredo, whose Iowa campaign headquarters is in Ames, decided to open a satellite office to capitalize on his support in heavily Republican western Iowa, said Bill Salier, the candidate's state director.

1. Ooooof. One of the downsides of living near Omaha is that you get |
|
the Iowa radio ads from these guys. Tom Tancredo is all over AM radio like white on rice. He is a one-trick pony.

2. The more I think about Tancredo's following, the more frightened |
|
I become.
This guy is severely rightwing.

4. Maybe he and Brownback |
|
will split the severely rightwing wacko vote. It is the best I can offer. They both scare me and they both would probably do and say anything to get there, at least I know Sam will.

5. And I know you know what you're talking about with Sam Brownback. |
|
Either of these two is enough to drive me out of the country. Let's hope they don't get very far in the power game -- ever. Brownback's already a Senator! Yikes!
Good morning to you, good person.
Hope all's well your way.

afternoon there so Good Afternoon to you my friend!
It has been a bad week. Death and more death and one more then 2 criticals. Seems to come like that, in large spurts.
Other than that things are lovely!
I hope you are well.

the Pat Buchanan of 2008. I wouldn't be surprised if he won a primary or two. He's a mean-spirited, nasty bigot and will appeal to much of the base of the GOP.
