Fired attorneys may merit reinstatement: senator

1 hour, 33 minutes ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Attorney General Alberto Gonzales
should consider reinstatement of eight fired U.S. attorneys
if he cannot prove they were removed properly, the Republican
leader of the Senate Judiciary Committee said on Sunday.

"I think he ought to consider it," Sen. Arlen Specter said on
ABC-TV's "This Week" program.

The Pennsylvania Republican also said the White House has
agreed to let an outside expert search for potentially missing
e-mails that may be related to the firings.

Specter said he raised the idea of reinstatement during a
conversation with Gonzales.

2. It'll never happen ...

First, they would have to admit they were in the wrong ... what are the odds on THAT happening?

Second, Arlen's just doing his 'I'm on the side of the rule of law' dance and will soon abandon his faux-moral stance.

The puzzle is why it wasn't all the Democratic Congress critters. It may be that they expect a reversal of their dismissals to place via other avenues, when the indictments pile up more and more.

Why are they allowed to slip amendments in on the sly? It seems to run counter to everything that lawful government should be about. They are not our agents now; only our representatives. They should at least be allowed to be the latter in the imperfect form it is at best.

8. Nah - he always does this ... makes a bold confrontational sounding
statement... then cowers at the criticism, backs down and carries bushco's water.

Remember how he was going to investigate and fight the FISALESS survelliences? Result - he sponsored legislation to give the WH the actual authority for the survellience.

Whatever, Sen Spector, not like anyone expects you to actually put any actions to your 'maverick' words.
