One more addition to the Dems' '09 "To Do" list |
|
Impeach one Supreme.
I don't care which one.
I'd prefer either Nino or Slappy, but the fact is, any one of the conservatives is fine with me.

Three, at least. And that's been on the list since 2000!

2. I agree with you, but you have to clue me in. |

I'm new at this. I know who is who, but which ones are Nino and Slappy? My feeling was that neither Roberts or Scalito (I know his nickname ;)) should have been confirmed. That's what destroyed any "balance" on the court. And I was disheartened that Bush* got to appoint anyone, but it was inevitable. But they both were very bad choices for us.:-(

3. Nino is Scalia and Slappy is Thomas |
|
You have to go way back through Supreme Court folklore to get the etymology of the nicknames. :)

I know the etymology of Nino - from Antonin. I'm curious about where Slappy came from. Thomas is a guy who seldom opens his mouth. (I'm reminded of the old saying: better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open it and remove all doubt.)

5. Thank you! And I agree with either of these, and should have been able to figure this out. |

Scalia has always been a big problem for us and Thomas should never have been confirmed. He is just a copycat of Scalia. I remember the whole imbroglio with Anita Hill, heard this in my dentist's chair, just as I did about 9/11... Fortunately, I have a liberal dentist so I learned quite a bit there even before I became politically aware, quite a coincidence. It was 9/11 that woke me up, and I joined DU after that. But I know who is who on the Supreme Court and agree with your suggestions. However, we stood a fighting chance before Alito and, especially, Roberts...:-(
