Why the American public is confused Re: Gonzales hearings
What no one in this Senate hearing is saying are these words:

Dusty Foggo

Duke Cunningham

$140,000 from the VP office

"The Dukestir"

Mitchell Wade

Hookers, poker parties, and illegal federal funds to nonexistant defense contractors

This is why the people in this country are confused. My in-laws, who are mostly Freepers, think this is all a bunch of fuss for no reason, and honestly watching these hearings I can understand their position/confusion.

No one is making Abu G. DENY that the only USA they cared about firing was Lam, and it was for her prosecution. Why are they mum about this? If they got that information out there and the issues of obstruction of justice, the American public might suddenly understand what is at stake here. The cover-up would suddenly make sense to them. Right now, if I didn't really know what was up with Lam, I might be confused about why anyone would care, too.

If any Democratic senator would just push Gonzales about any of this, they would at least force the media to try to provide a bit of background on the Lam scandal.

It would be ALL OVER.

3. You are so right! I'm hoping Chuck Shumer will put the
gauntlet down!!

I was somewhat disappointed in Feingold's questioning- even tho he rocks.

4. I was hoping that too. But Schumer blew it, too
Got hung up on the PATRIOT renewal thing. And lies.

but who cares? Why not uncover the criminal conspiracy? Why not show why it was important for the GOP to can Lam?

Dumb. The senators are blowing this.

5. The one thing I can hope for...
is that the investigations are still underway, and they think being too open about them could jeopardize those probes.

They just went into another Repub Reps house recently (reported elsewhere), so the whole Cunningham case has not totally unravelled yet.

They have to continue the criminal investigations without making them look like partisan witch hunts is the only thing I can think of.
