Just came from County Dem meeting, and still worried about election fraud.
It seems many of the older party members cannot grasp the extent of the election fraud and the electronic voting machine problem.

They completely understand about how minorities are targeted, but don't seem to think that there is anything more that can be done about it, because some of them actually THINK that after 2000 election fraud hearings the Dem party put safeguards in place to counter these acts.

I could NOT believe my ears. They had no idea that the election fraud was even WORSE in 2004. And we were supposed to talk about countering election fraud in the leadup to 2008.

There were some members there who get electronic vote fraud as well as anyone here at DU, but too many older members treat them like conspiracy theorists.

Is this the case for YOUR county?

1. Don't know the answer to that, but I'd say it's important enough that
if you don't have their support outright, I'd say keep working on it with colleagues who share your urgency. Because you're NOT just some conspiracy nut here. Let them focus on something else and don't waste any more time on 'em.

3. This particular meeting was supposed to be all the top people and lawmakers
in a fairly large southern city.

Those who get election fraud get it completely. So, I am certainly not alone. Will keep at it. They never even heard of RFK Jrs article. (groan) And these folks are pretty much running the party here.

4. Any chance that article could be xeroxed and left in a few mailboxes
or under a few doors or something?

It's good, though, that you're not alone (there, in this case - you're FAR from alone HERE). And the top people eventually move on. Perhaps some reminders about the gonzo hearings and investigations and all that sinister stuff about election manipulations and tactical voter suppression - that has indeed spread and in some cases has gone mainstream? As we keep paying attention to that US attorneys scandal, and more comes out about the key states in which this shit occurred (um, gee, wonder why it happened THERE?), you might find yourself with a lot more evidence to support your case.

ABSOLUTELY keep at it. Remember also, you guys at the lower/middle levels are the ones who eventually rise to the top. Where you'll be in position to do something more decisive about it. And with greater clout.

5. Sen Clinton sponsored "The Count Every Vote Act"
Here is the Bill sponsored by Senator Clinton:

Summary of the Count Every Vote Act of 2007 (CEVA)

http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=23648

And a tracking Link..The Bill appears to still be in Committee

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?tab=main&bill=s110-804

...there is plenty of useful information in both links that would be of great help.

2. Older folks really don't
understand high tech and just how easy it is to manipulate.

It's just a world they don't visit. To them everything is face2face and anything other than that is nonexistent.

a hundred times more on election security issues than McAuliffe did in his entire 4yrs, but I think he needs to add even more emphasis top-down on the state and county level.

8. Well, I just came from listening to Greg Palast speak and you
are in good company. Mr. Palast says that the 2008 election has already been rigged. Compliments of Mr. Rove. You can read it in his Armed Madhouse book. He says the last two chapters explain how we can take the 2008 election back.

9. I read it. The problem that I see is that establishment Dems have spent the aftermath
of the last two presidential cycles LYING about what happened.

They have gone around the country telling Dem meetings and gatherings that the problem was Gore and Kerry and their lack of appeal to the center or their bad campaigning, as if Bush outperformed them.

No talk about how both Gore and Kerry won, likely by many millions of votes - because the Terry McAuliffe's of th eparty at the DNC would not do what it takes to secure those votes or counter the tactics of the GOP thugs who work every day for 4yrs on undermining Denms and establishing control over the vote count - so they deflect the blame and established 'conventional wisdom' within the party itself.

Yep - all they have to do is have a candidate that can appeal to the center and is strong on nationbal security, unlike Gore and Kerry.

Professional liars. They want Dean out as chair because he's not lying for them - but still, they have worked diligently to dominate the storyline of past elections and they have greater media influence than Dean does at this point.
