Holy cow...scary Guliani quote...
http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9A01E2D9173CF933A15750C0A962958260

"We look upon authority too often and focus over and over again, for 30 or 40 or 50 years, as if there is something wrong with authority. We see only the oppressive side of authority. Maybe it comes out of our history and our background. What we don't see is that freedom is not a concept in which people can do anything they want, be anything they can be. Freedom is about authority. Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do."

(Interruption by someone in the audience.)

"You have free speech so I can be heard."

That explains a lot...

5. I thought this was 2007, not 1984.
"War Is Peace; Freedom is Slavery; Ignorance is Strength."

For Rudy to say that freedom is authority is very Orwellian.

:scared:

9. Another goody:
Political language... is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.
George Orwell

And that pretty much summarizes what Rudy was attempting to do.

"Virginity is about submitting your body. Virginity is about the willingness of every single human being willing to cede to an authority figure a great deal of discretion about what you do."

Rudy has lost his goddam mind.

Seriously, people. Is this the best the GOP can muster? McCain has driven over a cliff. Rudy has a death wish. Romney is trying to redefine himself while pretending we won't notice. We've got an ancient actor. I'm beginning to believe that we could run just about anybody and beat these idiots.

Funny that this made me think of "South Park", too. I was thinking that when there is another "Biggest Douchebag in the Universe" contest, Rudy will be up there accepting the prize. The "American Prospect" magazine (May, 2007, issue, www.prospect.org) has an excellent article entitled, "If You Knew Rudy Like I Know Rudy..." written by Michael Tomasky. He is vile.

If you are really interested in what Rudy has said and done, get a copy of the little red book, "The Sayings of Generalissimo Giuliani", edited by Kevin McAuliffe, published by Welcome Rain Publishers in 2000. Pre-9/11, but full of great info. Hopefully the press *ahem* will pick up on some of the things in the book and start to really question this guy.
