what happened to Richardson? |
|
if you listened closely he did okay, but if you opened your eyes and looked at him he was a mess. He was flushed, sweating like mad, looked really uncomfortable up there. Anybody know "the rest of the story".He's usually so poised and put together, it was truly out of character for him.
One pundit saw him having strategy meetings in the hotel lobby? Theres got to be more to this story.

didn't pretend to be something he's not. thats the problem we have with the idiot we have in the White House now. everybody though Gore was not being himself and everybody talked about Bush being a guy you like and could have a beer with. i wonder how many of those idiots who voted for Bush think 6 years later if they would have a beer with him.so i am not worried about Richardsons performance he did just find to me.

4. Richardson had mediocre night on the same night that Biden had a good night and showed some |
|
expertise in the same areas where Richardson is also very strong. It's nothing more than that. There will be other debates where Richardson will do better.

5. It was the "gotcha" format that reeked, not the |
|
candidates. They all did fine considering the tacky questions, and even when the Q's were good, they only had a minute to respond. Brian Williams even mentioned that!
I just hope they screw up the Republicans' as well  Tweety's moderating that one.

7. The format seemed to frustrate him |
|
I could tell that having to answer complex questions in one minute seemed to throw him. I also heard him say in an interview that the lights were so bright where he was standing that he could hardly see, which might explain the squinting.

9. The bloggers at MYDD had an interesting observation |
|
I listened to their blogger radio comment after the debates and they noticed that Richardson was the furthest from Brian Willaims and may have had trouble hearing some of the questions. They thought that Williams was supposed to be able to move from behind the podium so that he could get closer to the candidates when asking questions but noticed that he stayed the furthest away.
The format was the worst for Richardson's. I've viewed some of his talks and he works better when he's not limited to the 60 second sound bite format. He comes across as personal and is able to interject some of his humor into his comments.
He also has a habit that is both a plus and minus at the same time. He doesn't usually work with scripted speeches. He repeats some of the same phrases but usually speaks in an ad lib manner. It makes him appear more genuine but also takes him longer to get across his points. To be effective in that type of format, he needed memorized 60 second responses.
