Watching Condi on This Week - How the HELL did she ever get confirmed, anyway?
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 10:13 AM by blm
She failed as National Security chief and that had already been documented in the 9-11 Commission report and her testimony to that commission was a lie-fest.

The Democratic Senators KNEW Condi lied and Richard Clarke was telling the truths that PROVED Condi lied about 9-11. So how the hELL did the Senate end up confirming Condi for Sec of State with all the infoprmation there was out there that went against her?

The Democrats didn't even BOTHER to put up a united protest - the vote was 85-13......... WHY?

What self-expressed LEADERS led?

Seems to me if a senator was REALLY anti-war in 2005 they would have voted AGAINST her.

1. Well I am sure it wasn't her sense of style
Her hair is looking better but some of those older styles :puke:

Maybe she has great taste in shoes? They never show her feet though.

2. For Better Or Worse, Ma'am
It remains something of a tradition that the occupant of the Oval Office, no matter who it is, gets to have the people he desires in major cabinet posts. You will have a hard time finding any major opposition to any Secretary of state appointment at any time in U.S. history.

5. And how many are confirmed AFTER they were proven to have lied to congress
and in hearings as serious as the 9-11 commission hearings?

12. Proved, Ma'am?
It remains a matter of opinion, absent a conviction for that crime. Even my sharing that opinion does not make it an accepted fact.

Things like this have no signifigance in themselves, but only take on signifigance from a theoretical frame-work that views them as demonstrating something. What is your framwork for thus, Ma'am? What do you think is the reason? It will ill-become you pretend you have none, and are asking this question without having a 'correct' answer aready in mind....

That in your view endows this with some great signifigance?

3. exactly correct....
Condi Rice is brought to us by the same folks who gave us war crimes against Iraq, Gonzo the torturer, and Supreme Court justices Roberts and Alito. There the hell was the opposition party when we needed it? Keeping their powder dry, or some other euphemism for contemplating the benefits of invertebrate living.

7. Yep - Rice's lies get heard by the anti-corruptuin, open government wing of the
Democratic party. We need MORE Democrats like that elected and fewer of the get along, coverup politicians.

8. I think those 13 votes against have been the most ever
Or at least in recent history. Typically, if somebody ends up getting through committee for a confirmation vote they get voted in. The thinking is that the president should get who they want and if they get through vetting and committee, they make it through pretty easy. She got beat up in the hearings a little, but basically the president gets his choice, unless they are someone like Bernark Kerik, who couldn't make it through vetting or through a committee.

9. This is still one of the main reasons I'm having a problem supporting Obama
He voted to report Condi Rice's nomination out of the Foreign Relations Committee, and send it to the full Senate for a vote.

I felt as though her nomination should not have made it out of Committee.

It's clear that she never understood her role as National Security Adviser. She definitely was not qualified for promotion to SoS.

affirmative declaration, her head always shakes (usually rather frantically, too) from side to side - telegraphing a negative. I've noticed the opposite dynamic in play, also. Her mouth says no, but her head shakes yes.

You give away your true intentions and motives EVERY TIME, contradicta. And we out here in "But you just don't understand"-ville and "If you knew/could see what we knew/saw-land are VERY capable of recognizing this without the need of any fancy-ass ON-PAPER-ONLY PhDs or high-fallutin' dossiers.

GOPs speak? They managed to use them on Democrats.

15. The mystery of the missing intelligence
It has been widely documented that Richard Clarke left Rice significant information about the immanent threat of a terrorist hijack. Also, the obviously bogus information about the WMD's - it would now appear that only an idiot could have accepted this without the equally obvious nefarious intentions (not too sorry, Hillary).
But what of Ms. Rice's alleged intelligence? How could this individual be a provost at a prestigious university such as Stanford? Rice can barely lie effectively, let alone ever present a convincing argument about anything. She has not, arguably, affected any significant policies or achievements during her term. So too, with Gonzalez - booed at his Harvard reunion. How could this alleged moron ever graduate from Harvard?
The intelligence is indeed missing.

It's all about money and cronyism. No wonder they don't believe in affirmative action--they discriminate against the qualified!
