Is this a picture of our 2008 ticket...?
Edited on Sun Apr-29-07 05:49 PM by SaveElmer
Even though I have predicted Wesley Clark would ultimately be Veep, I saw this picture and was suddenly struck by how much this looked like a Presidential candidate and their running mate on the campaign trail...

Would the Dems have the sand to nominate an African American and a woman on the same ticket (I think they would)...?

And if so...what order...?

1. You think Hillary would run as a VEEP?
Not a chance, IMO.

2. I think she might...
Who thought Lyndon Johnson would accept a veep slot under JFK...?

In any case...I think Hillary is gonna be the nominee, so I think it would be the other way around...

17. maybe less experience but i would take issue with "less qualified"
last time i checked, obama is 35 or older, a US citizen, and a 14 year resident.

29. Neither has the personality to be second banana. It's the #1 spot or nothing.
Just my opinion, but I think I've got it right.

Hillary (and Bill) will never, ever, ever be 2nd banana. She'll remain a senator before she does that.

It's possible, but only slightly, that Obama would consider the 2nd banana spot. I don't think he has a #2 personality, but he might take it, since it would be historical.

But a ticket with a woman Prez and an Af. American male the V.P.? Hmmm. The first ever ticket without a white male at all on it? You think it's possible?

Clinton and Obama. They are getting money from the same industries that are backing the Republican candidates in lesser amounts, but still more than the democratic candidates who haven't received any money from the same PACs. This is their dirty trick to set up the candidates that they think have a the best chance of losing against their Republican backed candidates, and Hillary is really hated by many voters who might vote for a Democrat and Obama is a black something that will keep many bigoted white voters home on election day although I would like to see Obama as a VP candidate. This is what these donors are counting on that they will stay home or vote for a Republican.

Hillary is the candidate we will have not the one we want because of this. How do you think we got Kerry the last time? Also, any candidate who might be a threat in spite of this like Howard Dean was in the last election will be swiftboated somehow with a scream or whatever it takes to make them look crazy. I really wish there was a law that stated that donors could only donate money once to the one candidate of their chosing and their party affiliation and no one else.

That explains why you don't appear to understand what "formidable" means.

understand words in the English language. Tsk, tsk, such a huge error in logic there.

9. Possible. Clinton-Obama? Or Edwards-Sebelius? Or Biden-Richardson?
Wait, I'm not done.

Clinton-Bayh.

Richardson-Dodd.

Gore-Obama.

Edwards-Hart.

Obama-Bumpers.

Hart-Sebelius.

Cuomo-Moyers.

Clinton-Clark.

Edwards-Harkin.

Biden-Schweitzer.

In any case the rising tide has a distinct blue cast. Go, Democrats.

25. Hi, tigereye. Yes -- Moyers would be a good guy to have around when
the Democratic president moves in to 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. in 2009.

If not as vice president, then as chief-of-staff, or what have you. Someplace influential where a good man can do some real good.

I was thinking of Dale Bumpers himself. I was very impressed with his speech before the Senate in defense of Bill Clinton in the Lewinsky matter. I know he's out of office right now, but he could bring in quite a lot of southern voters to our side. And he's smart as they come. I guess I'm just not ready to let the man retire just yet!

or

Hart-Harkin

Carter (Jack) - Sebelius.

Cuomo - Ferraro.

:hi:

But please, God, I ain't too proud to beg - NOT HILLARY! ...unless Hillary wants to stop being a hegemonic horror.

27. Some good people there, IndyOp. I'm keeping an eye out for
Gary Hart.

There are a couple of sites up now for or about Hart, and the tilt seems to hint at an 08 run. Hard to tell what's going on exactly, but in any case, he's a good man and would make a great president.

I will not forget his strong victory in New Hampshire against Walter Mondale. It was one of the most impressive political victories of my lifetime.

I have the NBC news coverage of New Hampshire primary night.
Everyone knew Hart was coming on strong against Mondale, but NOBODY expected a big win.
You are right, that was an exciting night. Great memories.

31. Hart's volunteers must have just done double-overtime or something,
because they sure put it together beautifully that evening in New Hampshire.

It probably infuriated the editorial board of the Manchester UNION-LEADER.

11. Clark would be best VP, but better Pres...
Clark would compliment either Clinton or Obama, again, assuming Clark is not the nominee.

Clinton and Obama would both benefit from someone of Clark's stature foreign policy wise. Clark is also more liberal than either Obama or Clinton, so nobody should worry about that. Best thing is he is perceived as a moderate...hard to paint someone like Clark as a weak willed liberal but...shhh!....he is really a liberal in moderate's clothing!

He is articulate, a skilled debater, good looking, from the south, not an aristocrat, and his resume includes being first in his class at West Point, NATO Supreme Commander, Vietnam war hero, heck he even taught economics as well as being a Rhoades Scholar. He had the most progressive tax plan in decades during the 04 campaign, is a progressive through and through.

I could go on and on, but Clark has strengths that Obama and Hillary lack, and would compliment either as a VP. My biggest frustration would be that Clark beats either as a Presidential candidate without question....

12. Here's my quesses......

Obama > *Governor Warner or General Clark
Richardson > General Clark
Clinton > Governor Vilsack or Senator Bayh (DLC all the way)
Edwards > Gov. Richardson or General Clark (Edwards is shrewd. He'll go for a military guy who can pick up southerners or southwesterners)
Kucinich > Cindy Sheehan
Gravil > Willie Nelson
Biden > General Clark
Dodd > Governor Manchin

As you can see, I think General Clark will be a hot commodity for VP pick. *Mark Warner will also be a popular pick if he's not in another race at the time.. (U.S. Senate or another term as VA Governor)

And if Obama isn't the nominee.. I'll bet Clark and Warner will be right at the TOP of the VP list.

Unless it's Hillary.

Then count on Vilsack -- possibly Bayh, but more likely Vilsack.
