Should Dem candidates TELL voters they plan to NOT hold Bushes accountable |
|
Edited on Wed May-02-07 04:11 PM by blm
for any of their crimes of office? And shouldn't we know which ones WILL?
And would YOU be comfortable voting for a person who thinks that ignoring crimes of office is "good for the country" when they have the power to pursue and further expose those crimes?
With the benefit of hindsight - think how Watergate and IranContra-BCCI-Iraqgate turned out for Democrats, this country and the world.
AND.... will YOU hold your preferred candidate in the primaries accountable to this issue?
Shouldn't we have a RIGHT to know where they stand on anti-corruption and open government issues like this?

all we have to do is ask and make sure we get a real answer.

10. If WE pressure them, the media should be asking this question at every appearance |
|
and interview. Then, hopefully, it will become part of the debate and Dem platform.

2. Yes, I think that is something we should not only get, but should expect. |
|
Further, I think candidates should sign a commitment statement to that effect.
If I know that Candidate A is going to disregard the illegal actions of his/her peers, while Candidate B is going to hold them accountable, that would certainly change my opinion of those candidates, and would have a strong influence on my decision of who to support.

4. About a year ago, I wrote a journal entry about Ford's Nixon pardon ...... |
|
... and how, at the time, I was in favor of it. And I was wrong to have felt so. I IMPLORE people today, do NOT allow the same crap to happen again. http://journals.democraticunderground.com/Husb2Sparkly/4

6. Wisdom..... we certainly have ENOUGH hindsight now to see what ACTUALLY happens |
|
when we 'move past' crimes of office, especially when that office is the POTUS.

5. We do have a right to know. |
|
I hope that's a question in the next debate ~ and I don't think ignoring crimes of office is good for the country.

9. It SHOULD be the top question at ANY Dem debate - but who in the media will dare |
|

7. AH! that's just nuts!!! |
|
Why the hell is it that people here want to bother electable politicians with some lame shit about mandates, public accountability, democracy...
Typical of 'immoderates' that want to tie politicians to 'their' one-sided view of the Constitution.
