Poll question: What Are The Motivations Of Those Flogging The Kerry "Intern" Story? |
|
I hate to do this poll because by asking the question I am perpetuating this unsubstantiated allegation...

1. Is anyone on DU doing this? |
|
Who's doing this? I don't see it. No one here is getting down on him for it, whether he did it or not.

You can see the latent glee in many of them....
I would rather have a "millstone wrapped around my neck and be cast into the sea" then to help Bushco....
Weakening our nominee only aids Bushco....

7. Not if we get a BETTER candidate than Kerry out of this mess |
|
It helps US.
It helps Democrats to get this out in the open.
If it is true Kerry needs to admit it and fold up his tent and go home. We do NOT need this.
If it is NOT true then I support him fighting it with facts and not lame denials or claims that his personal business is not relevent.
A Man or woman who lies to their spouse is UNFIT to be trusted by ANYONE.
Especially when he trots Theresa out at every opportunity.

self-immolating and flaming loser idiot and liar.
I believe that this supports my position and belief that Kerry is a liar and a self-serving and deceitful man unworthy of our trust or of the job of President.

11. You forgot the option: |
|
They are concerned democrats who would like to see the party avoid nominating this sure loser.
But then again, no one opposed to Kerry could have such honest motives, correct?

12. You Used The Socatic Method To Answer Your Own Question -:) |

Could someone who is flogging an unsubstantiated story that John Kerry violated his marital vows by having sex with a twenty something intern in his charge have honest motives?
I think the answer is in the question....

19. Those who already support Kerry |
|
won't give a rat's ass about this story, even if it is true. Everyone else, the die hard supporters of other candidates, all the Republicans out there who could have been persuaded to vote for Kerry in the GE, will be quite frightened by this story.
I think the immediate motive for this is to get the Bush AWOL story off the front pages. The secondary motive is to weaken Kerry. It doesn't matter, really, if he's so weakened he doesn't get the nomination, or gets the nomination anyway, but this (and doubtless other "scandals") continue to dog him.
I'm no Kerry fan, but this disturbs me enormously, because it's not so much directed at this specific man, but whoever the front runner would have been at this time would have had some mud thrown at him. And if Kerry as nominee has to constantly answer charges like this, rather than focus (as he should) on issues, on the economy, the illegal, war, and so on, then Bush gets to run around the country looking Presidential, saving us from terrorists, and capturing Osama in a victorious surge to re-election.

why NO coverage in the NYT, CNN, Yahoo, BBc, La Times, or anywhere relevant/
simple answer: this is another internet rumor being dressed up like a major scandal. And sadly, some of the people hyping this are here in DU--and acting like kids waking up on Christmas morning. I expect this kind of nonsense from freepers and high school students.
