Conyers to Gonzales: No, Let's Keep Talking about the US Attorneys
By Michael Roston, Raw Story

Gonzales says Bush involved in sacking Attorneys

When Rep. Bobby Scott (D-VA) subsequently asked the Attorney General if the White House had asked the Justice Department to remove certain US Attorneys. Gonzales repeated his earlier explanation about Rove raising concerns about voter fraud cases in three federal districts. Gonzales then suggested that the President had been looped into one conversation on the subject.

"I've now been made aware of the fact that there was a conversation with the President that basically mentioned in October of 2006," Gonzales explained, although he offered no further details.

Returning to Yang's case, Scott then asked if former White House counsel Harriet Miers had sought to have her removed from office. Gonzales suggested that Miers was aware of Yang's desire to earn more money in the private sector.

"I think that Ms. Miers may have known about Ms. Yang's concern about continuing to remain on the job for financial reasons," he said, adding that Miers knew that Yang's district was "very important."

Just before 11 AM, the Committee recessed so members could head to the House floor for a series of votes.

2. The Wheels of Justice Grinding Slowly, But
there's a lot of named people suddenly thrust between those grinding stones! That is progress, at least, more than we've had these 6 years: matching up crooks and their crimes and the evidence. All we need now is the warrants.....

3. The problem is that it's Congress.
Congress doesn't do justice or enforcement. Congress does legislation, and Congress does impeachment.

Unless this heads to impeachment, the only things that can come out of it is (a) new legislation and (b) having some prosecutor look at the public record and decide to open a *real* investigation. Tne new legislation would be built on the conduct of individuals--seldom a good basis for legislation.

4. Too Bad Nancy! Gonna Have to Be Impeachment
Lord knows Gonzo couldn't investigate a crime while he's busy trying to cover it up!
