1. No, but I do remember 98 when he nailed Clinton to the wall |
|
So I'm doubtful/fearful/curious.

3. No. It says more about those who jumped on the Drudge bandwagon |
|
than it says about Drudge.

8. Drudge is an internet artifact - as is this forum |
|
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 05:35 PM by NV1962
Aside from the "party line" that separates the two, the immediacy of the medium and the partisan passions that fan the flames faster than mainstream media can scratch the itch they cause.
Neither Drudge or this forum are representative for "the real world" - but let's not forget either that representativity is not the mission or the function of this forum.
It's a hotbed for exchange, arguably on McLuhan's hottest medium; small wonder that flames reach out faster and further.
Drudge doesn't need this forum - he plays into and follows a wholly different agenda, ideologically and functionally: his game is spreading cr*p for the sake of intentional muckraking, while here the occasional "dirt" is a byproduct of intense exchanges geared towards the pursuit of a progressive agenda.
A major difference, I say: therefore, I consider the question of this topic to be a rhetoric fallacy.

9. Why is he taken seriously |
|
or is he? He is certainly good at getting pub. He makes me think of Hedda Hopper, the evil gossip columnist in the 40s. Is that an appropriate comparison, or is he just the political gossip columnist? Husband says Drudge is just a right wing drone.
