I really really can't stand Chris Matthews
I tuned earlier to his show because there were ads that Edwards would be there. He was not and some of the other topics many have been interesting, but the guy just loves to hear himself talk, rather, shout.

He would ask a question and immediately try to answer it himself.

I have no reason to like Huckabee, but he was there and Mathews was asking him questions and immediately shouted him down. I was waiting for Huckabee to get up, tell Matthews that he really did not need him and to walk out.

Later he had Linda Douglas, she used to be a correspondent for one of the networks. And, again, would ask her a question, would not even hear the answer and would ask it again, shouting.

He wanted to know why Clinton's negatives are so high and I thought that Douglas started giving a reasonable answer - too many angry episodes - but Matthews just cut her off, and, again, asked why Clinton's negatives are so high..

I am angry at him that he, or MSNBC promoted Edwards on his show and sucked me in to watch a program that just aggravated me.

1. Last week he told some new GOP shill
that the rule on HIS show was to shut up while he's interrupting, and insiuated that's the only way he'd ever be on the show again. I felt sorry for the boob even if he was a repugnant, he was polite. Today it was all about how "unlikeable" Hillary was, and hoow horrible her voice sounded as opposed to Fred Thompson's and St. Reagan's. "Preachy "said David Gergin. Every time I see him I get PO'D. To top it off No keith Obermann tonite.

2. I used to watch him all the time
but now I see that it's not worth it. He can raise a subject I'm interested in, but then twist it around and add absolutely nothing to the dialogue. I keep picturing him as an old washerwoman gossiping over her backyard fence to her neighbor. That's all he is--a political gossip and tease. It's not even that he leans to the right--it's just that he's a waste of time.

In my search for good programming, I've actually gone away from cable and back toward the networks. Charlie Gibson usually has a good show on World News on ABC. They are pulling no punches from the * administration. First story up tonight was about * getting "a strong rebuke" because he can't hold civilians and accuse them of being terrorists.

4. Same here. Back to ABC
with Charlie Gibson one of the last older newsmen who does not need to shout, or to use tricks to deliver solid report.

But the networks are barely 22 minutes to it is nice to have Keith Olbermann, for example, to provide a more detailed report. And what a difference. Olbermann will quietly let his guests talk, for as long as they need - as he did with Robert Shapiro about Paris Hilton last Friday - and never interrupt.

A class act vs. trash.

I do watch him, but FF through all the hollywood drivel with my DVR. ;)

I also record Newshour--sometimes they have very good interview. And BBC World news for stories the U.S. media doesn't bother with. And Charlie Rose, when it's a show about politics. It's a good thing I have a DVR because I'd never have time to sit through all of these every day! I just pick and choose.

3. Tweety's constant bashing of Hillary
(because he is afraid of strong women) and man love for McCain, Rudy and George makes it obvious he is a sick fuck.

Why is Dan Abrams not embarrassed every night by his behavior - oh, I know, Dan is just as bad.

11. Oh, yes, the famous "mancrushes" of Tweety.
I really think the bloom is off the rose between Tweety and Rudy. Lately Tweety has been extolling the strength of Mitt Romney's chin and the many virtues of Fred Thompson. Oy.

21. Mathews has unlocked the key ...
to maintaining favor with the conservative machine ...

Most MSM people don't get it, but there is a subtly that Mathews has figured out ... Sprinkle the occassional republican butt kissing in with a set rule of ALWAYS bashing the left, and you can get away with being critical to Rs ... Most MSM people don't get that, they think they have kiss republican butt all the time ...

What the conservatives DEMAND is that you ALWAYS marginalize democrats ... Mathews knows that, and builds that into his would be "tough" persona ...

As an aside, as you noted, Mathews has a CLEAR latent man love issue ...

5. He also said that he found Tony Soprano a "likeable guy"...
Of course he said the same thing about Bush and wanting to have a beer with him.

Seems to me this guy has a whacked out sense of who to hang out with.

26. Don't forget "Women like this war!"
Yes, Matthews said that of Iraq. That alone is proof enough of his brainlessness, but then he goes off on the GOP being "the Daddy Party" (Yeah, if your father was completely dysfunctional).

One of the few safe times to watch Hairball is when David Gregory is the guest host.

8. Tweety is about as bad as Leslie...
Neither of those guys has a clue how to interview or moderate anything, but they sure are good at interrupting whoever is on their shows. I wasn't aware that being rude was a requirement to host a TV news show. Gibson and Rather have both done so with class. Maybe Tweety and Leslie should take a lesson from the old guard on how to interview with respect and let the subject SPEAK!!!

18. They don't need to go to the old guard
just watch the show that comes after him - Keith Olbermann.

I am always impressed with the way Keith just sits quiet and lets his guest says what he wants to say for as long as he talks. After all, this is why he has a whole hour (OK, perhaps 50 min to allow for commercials).

I first noticed it last year before Obama declared his candidacy but when he changed his mind saying that he may consider. And just last Friday, when Robert Shapiro explained the disastrous jail situation in LA.

Who is Leslie? Not 60 Minutes Leslie Stahl?? I consider her a classy lady..

22. Olbermann embodies the best of both...
A tip of the hat to those who came before him, and a nod to the future, with his feet firmly planted in the here and now. I love him, and watch him pretty much every night.

"Leslie" = Wolfie. :)

12. Meanwhile, Huckabee made a fool of himself
I'd beg for him to be the nominee. Matthews tried to ask him if he really thought the Earth was only 6000 years old and Huckabee immediately veered away without answering, saying that wasn't the important issue impacting people's lives. Then Huckabee said if you gave him 2 or 3 hours alone with Giuliani he could make Giulaini pro-life and pro-gun, etc. Matthews burst into laughter.

15. Keith Olbermann is the best BUT
lately he has been driving me crazy.

He's been talking about Paris Hilton more than about the real news.
He was the same with the
Anna Nicole non-stop bs.
Lately what I have been doing, is recording him. Watching the first 2 stories, and fast-forwarding to "Worst Person In the World" (love that segment) and that's it.

Anyone else feel that way?

30. The sub title of his show is
what will you (or friends and family) be talking about next morning and the fact is that Anna Nicole and Paris Hilton and American Idol were the topics of discussion for many folks who do not care much about politics - unless it is Bill Clinton's penis - or about politics all the time.

Cannot really blame them. For most who work hard from paycheck to paycheck - if at all - these stories provide some relief.

25. I'm fed up with him myself. I have watched him for ages now,
primarily because there's nothing on at the same time that's better. But last night I turned the show on, he started in with some of his annoying ways, and I just couldn't take it any more. I think I put the Food channel on or something. I'm just not going to put up with him anymore. Life is too short, ya know?

27. He's bad. And Tucker is even worse.
Matthews is increasingly interested in his own "ideas" ONLY. As others have noted, he continues to sinkl ever further into his obsession with Sen. Clinton, and his man-love for Giuliani is impossible to watch.

But I find TUCKER to be even more unwatchable, especially lately. He was always a braying jackass, but his level of hysteria and hectoring of the few people who still seem to be willing to even APPEAR on his show seems to be escalating drastically.

My guess (and hope) is that his ratings are finally tanking and he sees the writing on the wall. He stopped wearing the bowties too, you may have noticed. I think it will soon be over for him, which would be the best thing for all of us.

31. I quit watching Tweetie years ago...he was the main reason I
unplugged the TV (a great savings now that we have to pay to have a stream of commercials delivered to us while political discussion is reduced to screaming matches in-between "breaks").

Tweetie was also the slime bag who screamed the lie that Gore said he had "invented the internet," when Gore actually was giving a history of how he had been an early supporter of ARPANET, spearheading hearings on it. ARPANET was the precursor to the internet. Gore never said he had invented it.
