I have seen almost no mention here or in the wider media of the fact that if this contest comes down to Rudy versus Hillary then it will be a nationwide rematch of the Senate race that got Hillary her seat.

What happened in New York in 2000 tells us much about what would happen next year if these 2 are the candidates. Rudy was going to lose the City to Hillary and his campaign accepted that. Their strategy was to carry Staten Island (the 5th borough of NYC - conservative), and beat her upstate. Going into the race Rudy was polling well upstate. But people who had seen the most of Rudy, in NYC, were turned off by his ego, his style and his crazy rants and tangents.

So what happened? The more Rudy toured and campaigned upstate, the lower his numbers went. The more people see of Rudy Giuliani the less they like him. It rapidly became clear that Rudy could not defeat Hillary so he withdrew from the race and left the GOP scrambling to find a person who would run a get their butt kicked by Clinton. That dubious honor fell to Rick Lazio and she buried him 55% to 43%.

Thanks to am-news-ia (the journalistic form of amnesia), Rudy is again being touted as the great anti-Clinton, never mind that he blew million$ of his supporters' dollars on yet another ego trip before ducking out of the race with a bogus excuse. He didn't have the ovaries to go the distance in 2000 and he is no different now. So I say bring on the Rudy rematch -- he ain't half the woman Hillary Clinton is.

1. Neither
I'm sure J. Edgar Hoover felt the need to express his feminine side at least once in the Oval office.
