VA Gov Mark Warner for VP? |
|
The local news (DC Metro Area) have been saying that he's on the list of possible VP candidates, along with Bob Graham, Edwards and Clark

2. I love warner, but I don't thinks he'll help us pick up a state. |
|
I don't think we'll be able to pick up VA even with Warner on the ticket.

3. a bit soon for Warner isn;t it? |
|
I'd love to see him kick either Allen or the old man Warner out, especially allen. But VP, this soon? Hmmm...perhaps a Cabinet position if all goes right...

Mr. Charisma, is he?
I don't know him well, & he seems OK, but I'd like to see a higher profile guy, like Wes Clark.

9. there is something about him |
|
when mark warner speaks about the problems people face there is something nice about it. he comes across as very true or real. but we have only seen this in regards to domestic issues. there are still questions about his knowledge when it comes to foreign policy which is important to being a president and therefore something the vp should have.

8. i thought that was rude also |
|
i know mark warner is kind of new to public office but he should learn to be polite to even those he doesn't support. he hadn't made a public endorsement for kerry during that time, but i still knew he was supporting kerry but it's still no excuse for that. john kerry seems to like him though and not just because of the endorsement, but they seem to get along well.

11. Hell no! Warner is too Repub-lite and I'm a Dem from VA.... |
|
He is another DLC Dem and we must weed them out of our party and get our base back in.

12. That was the rumor being circulated after the endorsement... |
|
...but he probably has less of a chance of winning his home state than John Edwards :P

Bush only got 52.5% of the vote in Virginia in 2000 while he got 56% of the vote in North Carolina. Also, Edwards isn't that popular in NC and would have had a tough time getting reelected. Warner has sky-high approval ratings though. I still think we would have trouble winning Virginia but Mark Warner is about the only democrat in a long time to actual win rural areas and that would be very helpful if he could help out, even a little bit, around the country at winning over rural voters.

I just saw clips of Kerry and Clark on stage together today, and the entire military theme between them is way cool.

Warner is just another gov, in my opinion. He doesn't have any type of national appeal, is is currently involved in quite a budgetary mess here in VA. People are demonstrating with "Warner lied" signs re: tax increases, and just today the VA House agreed to think about raising some types of businesses taxes to help ease the budget crunch. Like all Dem Governors who came in after a Republican, he is dealing with cleaning up the mess.
Not a good VP candidate at all.

I'm from Va., don't pick Warner. Funny how so many people from Va. are against him being on the ticket? LOL. You would think that'd be a big clue.
