Norquist, Nader Join Forces in Push for State Spending Transparency
Edited on Mon Jul-09-07 09:53 AM by LoZoccolo
WASHINGTON, July 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On July 2nd, Grover
Norquist and Ralph Nader co-signed and sent a letter to all governors in
the country urging them to "emulate and go beyond the advances in bringing
more openness to governmental expenditures put forth by several governors
including Governor Mitch Daniels of Indiana."

In 2005, Gov. Daniels had issued an executive order which enables
Hoosiers to find on the Internet comprehensive information on state
contracts. This effort, and the Federal Funding Accountability And
Transparency Act passed by the U.S. Congress in 2006 which mandates the
creation of a publicly accessible online database detailing information on
federal grants and contracts, has inspired lawmakers at the state level to
address the issue of transparency in government finance.

10. I know,just having some fun.
If it makes you feel any better I think Nader is a tool and an egomaniac.

But he isn't the Satan you think he is either.

spirit he's so fond of.

6. It's incidences like this that make people question Nader.
Is he really so ego-driven that he can't tell when he's being used? What does Nader get from this relationship other than his name in the news? It makes him look like a hypocritical jackass.

I don't think anyone here needs to waste their time with a FUCK NADER campaign. I think he's doing that just fine all by himself!

Grover Effing Norquist, fercripessake!!!

his credibility gap created! Looks almost as deep as the one BushCo has dragged the country into, so he'd better find some good speelunking equipment.

13. Nader and Norquist have been friends for years. I believe this was
known as far back as 2000, but I could be mistaken.

What was definitely known in 2000 was that Nader wanted Bush to win, and said so in an interview in Outside magazine:

Interesting to re-read what he had to say about Al Gore back then, isn't it? Particularly in light of this weekend's events... :grr:

16. Ralph was right
"Which, Nader confided to Outside in June, wouldn't be so bad. When asked if someone put a gun to his head and told him to vote for either Gore or Bush, which he would choose, Nader answered without hesitation: "Bush." Not that he actually thinks the man he calls "Bush Inc." deserves to be elected: "He'll do whatever industry wants done." The rumpled crusader clearly prefers to sink his righteous teeth into Al Gore, however: "He's totally betrayed his 1992 book," Nader says. "It's all rhetoric." Gore "groveled openly" to automakers, charges Nader, who concludes with the sotto voce realpolitik of a ward heeler: "If you want the parties to diverge from one another, have Bush win."

And it came to pass -- the parties have begun to diverge thanks to bush's pResidency...

15. Kerry took 100 times as much from republicans
as Ralph did...

"Kerry Receives 100 Times More in Contributions from GOP Donors than Nader

"Center for Responsive Politics Finds: 50,000 Republican-Kerry Contributions vs. 700 Republican-Nader Contributions - $10.7 million for Kerry vs. $111,700 for Nader.

"Who is really in bed with Republican fat cats: Ralph Nader or John Kerry? Who is the real independent candidate with the independent message?

"Washington, DC: Today, the Independent presidential campaign of Ralph Nader and Peter Miguel Camejo released the preliminary findings of research conducted by the Center for Responsive Politics. The findings demonstrate that Senator John Kerry has thousands of contributors who have supported the Republican Party. Kerry has more than ten million dollars donated by Republican donors."

18. I did say "Swift Boat Vets" no?
I didn't use the term Republicans. However, I'm surprised that the amount was only 100 times greater considering the fact that Kerry was a major candidate and Ralph just a wanna be spoiler?

In the future, please provide the links to any quotes. I did find them on the "vote Nader" page, and I think that's telling, personally. :hi:

I think more transparency in State Government is a good idea, too.

And I'm an Anarcho-Syndicalist...

As for norquist signing on to the idea, even a broken clock is right twice a day.

You Nader Haters are soooooo funny...you even hate GOOD ideas if Ralph has anything to do with them...

"Transparency is one of the core principles of representative democracy. Another way of putting it is that 'information is the currency of democracy.'"

?????

Your blind hatred of Ralph Nader seems to be blocking your reasoning process...
