1. So sad.
To this day, every time I see litter I think of her. She was a great first lady and she inspired Americans all across the country to pick up our trash. My dad used to say 'throw it away and make Lady Bird happy'.

5. People don't realize how dirty this country was back in the 60's...
It was trash everywhere....

I remember her well...

She was cornball to many, but a strong lady who stood behind a very interesting man...

2. A lovely lady...
As a wildflower/native habitat nut, I so appreciate her work on that issue!

3. I met her in 1965
We actually chatted for quite a while, and even though she didn't know who
I was, she treated me with as much respect as she might any adult, and was
as kind and as gracious as her husband was not. Our paths never crossed
again (thought I met her daughter, Linda Robb last year), but I always remembered
her fondly. The best of Texas in the old style.

4. True story
Lady Bird once spoke to her grandson about a nice, young British man she had met at the White House once. He was very intelligent & had attended the London School of Economics. She was very impressed with him. I can't remember what tipped her grandson off as to who this was, but he said "Grandma, you were talking to Mick Jagger."

Lady Bird was a nice lady, so I won't pass along my personal views of her grandson.

6. Thank you, Lady Bird
For beautifying the highways, awakening our environmental awareness, the anti-litter campaigns, and the wildflowers. Rest well.
