17. Keep us Posted ....not all DU'ers view KOS as a clique......
and who is to talk about that...since DU itself is a clique...

4. Well, to be fair to those guys, they're pretty vital and "out there."
They are aggressive in their activism, their fundraising, they're hooked in to what's going on at the National Committee level, and they do span a wide spectrum of the party. The site owner is on TV a lot, too. I don't know what their membership is, in terms of numbers, but they are a force, certainly.

I'd be just as pleased if DU produced someone who was a viable candidate for national office.

5. MADem is right
Edited on Sun Jul-15-07 03:32 PM by demdiva
The site has long been home to a number of prominent activists as well as experienced professionals. The internet is simply one (very powerful) tool that'll help get a great candidate elected. This is not a Kos only race!!!

8. Jeff Seemann ran in 2004
He was a DUer and had a lot of DU support, although he didn't run as "the" DU candidate. Arrogant was the word I thought of when I read the diary, as if nobody else in the world has a valid thought except a "Kossack". I guess the liberal elitism trait isn't restricted to the DC consultant class after all.

9. Thanks for your comment Sandsea
I'll be sure to pass on your comment. I know for a fact that there's no attempt to exclude others from the online community. Quite the opposite actually!

10. I wasn't referring to the online community
There's a whole other community out there that the online community needs to talk to once in a while.

11. Oh gotcha. Grassroots all the way !!!
Edited on Sun Jul-15-07 03:39 PM by demdiva
Rest assured this is NOT an online only race. As I mentioned in a post before the netroots is merely one tool (although an important and powerful one) that will be used to talk to the grassroots. But thanks again for you comment. That is an important point to make.

Point taken. The grassroots are talked about frequently in politics as of late, but they are exceedingly important in this particular district. Thanks again.

21. I understand anyone can join. I like the level of discourse there
I just find the site a bit hard to navigate. But then I am old fart...

I don't think the people there are cliquish, fwiw. They do seem knowledgeable, though--and that's a good thing.

23. Oh, all "roots" type people
They drive me bonkers, the whole bunch of them. They think the entire world thinks exactly the way they do and that showing up at a meeting gives the the right to dictate the agenda for the entire country.

14. Hey, demdiva!
:hi:

Just happened to see this thread. I just read that diary over at DK about a half hour ago. Should be an interesting race.

Are you going to YKos? If you are, we're trying to set up a DU meetup at some point. Hope you'll join us if you're going to be there.

Glad you're posting here again. See ya at facebook!

Until then...I'm happy to see a group of organized Progressives and Indies...getting together to hammer out strategy...or just DISCUSS!
