Post-ABC poll shows 50% of Dems are "Somewhat" satisfied with Pres choices
Edited on Sun Jul-22-07 11:59 PM by The Sushi Bandit
When you look close at this poll some interesting things appear!

33 % are very satisfied with the current field. 16% are dissatisfied and a full 50% "Somewhat" satisfied. To me that really places doubt on the strength of the current candidates. Or another way to look at it is..

If you are a STRONG supported of a certain candidate it implies that you would be satisfied with the field, since your person is in it.

My take is "Somewhat Satisfied" is a polite way of saying I'M NOT REALLY SURE!

30. (ASKED OF LEANED DEMOCRATS) Overall, how satisfied or dissatisfied are you with the choice of candidates for the Democratic nomination for president this year - are you very satisfied, somewhat satisfied, somewhat dissatisfied or very dissatisfied?

---- Satisfied ------- --- Dissatisfied ---- No
NET Very Somewhat NET Somewhat Very opinion
7/21/07 83 33 50 16 14 2 1
6/1/07 79 26 53 18 15 4 2
4/15/07 80 29 51 18 14 3 2
2/25/07 86 29 57 12 9 3 2
10/29/03 68 9 58 28 21 8 4
9/13/03 64 8 56 34 27 7 2
1/16/00 69 14 56 28 21 7 2

Bottom line: WE NEED MORE PLAYERS!!

2. So 83% are satisfied with the Dem candidates and 16% are not?
Looks pretty good to me. Now all we have to do is vote for the Dem candidate.

4. The point it that people are only "somewhat" satisfied, not
overly enthused.

Me? I find them all lackluster. Big corporate whores, for the most part. :puke: If I wanted that, I'd vote Republican.

5. They're doing better than the GOP's "none of the above" candidate
There is no "perfect" candidate. I intend to get behind the Democratic candidate who gets the nomination, regardless of who it is. It doesn't matter who gets the nod, there will be Dems who are disatisfied with the candidate.

Take you, for example. I take it you're behind Clark, who isn't running, so you're not happy with the candidates. I would vote for Clark if he won the nomination because he would be the Democratic candidate, not because he was my first choice.

I like Obama. I like Edwards. I like Gore, but there's no chance he'll run. But I'll vote for whichever candidate gets the nod because I'm sick and tired of losing to a party who cannot do anything right except get behind their candidate.

It's either that or continue to let the GOP dismantle our country.

3. I agree about the current field of candidates.
I will vote for a Democrat, but I find it difficult to get excited about any of them.

7. Daffy Duck, Mickey Mouse, and Huckleberry Hound could be running
as the candidates for President on both the Republican and Democratic lines and Democrats would be far more satisfied than Republicans about their choices BECAUSE Democrats are excited about their chances in 2008 while Republicans are worried sick. Democrats tend to think we will win with whoever we nominate and Republicans are afraid that they will lose with whoever they nominate, so of course they aren't going to feel content with their choices compared to how we feel. We are optimistic and they are depressed. What do you expect? I think it is significant under the circumstances that a clear majority of Democrats can't muster up more enthusiasm than "somewhat satisfied".

8. Dodd deserves a closer look
and I think Kerry would be a formidable player at this point, despite his early poor showing in the '08 polls.
I am not sure how Gore would do but it would be a strong presence.
