Did anyone notice How Hillary snubbed Obama on the last question |
|
the candidates were supposed to compliment the person to their left and Hillary was the only one not to give a direct compliment. and that was to Obama. Others had the class to say something nice about the other. wonder why hillary could not do so.

That was his 'dislike' for Hillary on that question. Obama just said the jacket was fine. And it was a fine jacket! Great color and flattering to Hillary.

The question was lame. No candidate was really going to state anything negative about another candidate at the end of a debate 6 months before voting begins.

52. I agree, the cable debates have had some very lame questions |
|
Yes JE did (in my unbiased opinion ;) ). I think after Edwards Obama had the best overall performance. He has been inconsistent in the debates. It isn't that he was great in one debate and mediocre in the next. In my view he was inconsistent within the debates. He would do well on some questions and lousy on others. Tonight he came out strong and consistently did well, living up to his potential. He was very effective in constantly hammering away on his two themes for tonight, change and challenging the special interests.

that doesn't help him in the debate format. He didn't articulate the faith question as well as I've seen him do it in the past, but it was a good performance overall.
LOVED Edwards' commercial! I think it would serve him well to air it in early primary states. It not only allows him to stay on message, but it makes those who insist on obsessing about such a trivial issue look completely ridiculous.

|
I agree with you and think that is due to his background as a professor, when he had enough time to explain all the nuances of his thinking as opposed to 30 seconds in a presidential debate.
I agree on the video. If the haircut thing does not go away they need to run that as an ad. The damage the haircut issue is doing is it is distracting some from Edwards' message.

HRC would have looked very silly doing that, considering JE's video for the debate already addressed the "hair issue". And, we've seen her wear much more attractive jackets than this one. This one should stay in the closet.

What was clear to me was their light-hearted answers to a lightweight exercise. Nothing more, nothing less.

You know, I think that Chris Dodd has it absolutely right. I mean, I admire and like very much Barack, as I do with all of the candidates here. And I think that what you've seen tonight is how ready the Democrats are to lead.
We are ready to lead the change that America so desperately needs.

Obama was just one of "them"....she, her royal highness, just didn't feel like giving Obama a compliment about HIM
Then she goes off about how the Democrats are ready to lead. "ready to lead"....that comes of almost as life-less as her opening-the-campaign-statement "I am in it to win". Such profundity! NOT!!!!

That's it?? I missed that stupid little stint, but that really does say a lot about Hillary that she couldn't find something in Barack to compliment. I could come up with Hillary's tenacity fairly quickly, I don't know why she couldn't find a positive character trait.

the funny thing is a lot of people SAY they are concerned about "real issues" and condemn the RW for all their nitpicky crap - but there are a LOT of people in DU that behave like adolescents quibbling over who is in the "in" crowd, with incessant superficial crap like this
People don't get it that these folks are standing on a stage in front of cameras having to think fast. You cannot judge the instantaneous response as if it were a doctoral thesis. In many cases, a snap judgment on what do do with a question that does not have a yes/no position answer will be perceived by many as evasive or, like Edwards jacket joke, out of line. Answering some of those questions, you are damned if you do and damned if you don't. Hillary tried to make it a "big tent." Ok, so that means she 'snubbed' Obama in the context of the question. Give me a break (and I don't even like her much, personality-wise).
They all did pretty well. Some more impressive than others. But to try to drill down on a nuance like this and extrapolate it to "see there, she is REALLY a (whatever)" is more than silly.
Quibble over competance and capability if you want, but don't try to use whether they use the right fork or how they tie their shoes or whether they burped in public to pillory them.

said for something that supports their belief about a candidate whether it be good or bad. How sad. They all appeared to get along very well. They seemed to really like each other. Quit trying to make trouble where there is none. These politicians are adults, and can handle criticism and differing opinions. Many posters here are the ones who have the problem with those things, and they run the board crazy with the demeaning posts. The debate was good and the ending was wonderful. They all showed a lot of class and appreciation for each other.
