SurveyUSA:Both Before & After CNN YouTube Debate, Viewers Say Hillary Would Make the Best President

Americans who watched the YouTube Democratic Debate 7/23/07 on CNN went into the debate thinking Hillary Clinton would make the best President of the 8 Democrats on stage, and came out of the debate even more convinced, according to an exclusive SurveyUSA poll. Before the debate, 40% saw Clinton as the most Presidential Democrat; after the debate, when the same respondents were re-interviewed, 43% saw her as the most Presidential Democrat.

1. Are there any other polls out there we can look at?
This polling data is truly definitive and not subject to error, even though we're more than 15 months from the election.

2. I agree. A lot can happen in 15 months. Although it seems like
Hillary is determined not to screw up big time and flame out early. But a lot of things could happen that would completely change the picture. I am wary of a Rovian trick or a foreign policy crisis, but right now she looks pretty bullet proof except for those who utterly oppose her no matter what she says.

3. "...except for those who utterly oppose her no matter what she says." Indeed.
And those are the only poll numbers that matter at this point.

6. There are polls that register that view. A lot has been written about
the right wingers that despise (and fear) her and the left wing who do the same. You may or may not be able to combine the two to come up with what you call "the only poll that matters" at this point because we don't know how many liberals will end up "holding their noses" and voting for her if she is the Dem candidate. There is little to no chance of that happening with the right winger faction, altho they may be offset by some disaffected Republicans who "come over" to Hillary for a variety of reasons. And then you have the Independents who might or might not end up voting for her, depending on who her opponent is.

Don't you think that at the end of the day, a lot is going to depend on who the Republicans put up for President?

7. It matters 100% what happens on the GOP side.
It also matters that Hillary hasn't been nominated by the Dems yet. She hasn't won a primary or a straw poll. gads.

I just wish this wouldn't have started so damned early.

8. My husband said the same thing at dinner last night.
I don't know, tho. I'm having a little bit of fun quarterbacking this whole thing.

Looks like it's going to be "all Hillary all the time" for a while, now that the chattering class has taken her up as "good copy." Some of it, I must say, is entertaining and revealing. I never thought I'd hear those sentiments from Andrew Sullivan or Joe Klein.

What I want to see is Fred Barnes screwing up his face in that "Eww" look of his next time it's his turn to be a**hole of the airwaves...

9. Strange I thought Barack did well in the debate.
But Team Smear-4-Obama seems to be in high gear.
