<edit>

In the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination, New York Senator Hillary Clinton moves up to the 45% level of support among Likely Democratic Primary Voters. Illinois Senator Barack Obama is a distant second at 21%, his lowest level of support since early February. Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards is preferred by 11% (see daily history). Edwards opposes Rupert Murdoch’s purchase of the Wall Street Journal and has called upon Democrats to stop the merger. Edwards says that ongoing media consolidation “threatens the health of our Democracy” but most Americans have paid little attention to news of the Murdoch-Wall Street Journal news story.

<edit>

Clinton is now viewed favorably by 82% of Democrats, Obama by 66%. Those figures include 43% with a Very Favorable opinion of Clinton. Thirty-three percent (33%) have such a positive view of Obama. Just 16% of Democrats have an unfavorable view of Clinton while 30% hold such a view of Obama.

Among all voters, Clinton is viewed favorably by 49% and unfavorably by 48%. Those figures are in the middle of the range she’s occupied all year. Obama is viewed favorably by 48% of all voters, unfavorably by 45%. Those are the weakest ratings for Obama in 2007. In mid-July, he was viewed favorably by 54% of all voters.

12. That's my favorite DU line "I don't know anyone who likes Hillary"
As if everyone goes around with a clipboard taking a poll from everyone they know.

5. It's too bad this poll is completely meaningless since...
The US doesn't have a national primary.

We have individual state primaries, where Obama now leads or ties in three of the first four.

Thanks for coming out though.

This poll has as much meaning as a poll of US Catholics on who they would support as the next Pope. It's nice, but in the end, won't matter.

10. No the US doesn't have a national primary.
But this shows

a) Hillary's popularity with Democrats nationwide

b) As a daily tracking poll it can possibly help spot trends in reaction to news events.

In regards to B it would seem to indicate Hillary is winning the current spat.

17. She is popular...
I'll give you that.

But it doesn't mean anything. The only polls that will matter are the ones for:

Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina and Nevada. And Obama is doing okay in them (winning or tied in three out of the four).

After those primaries we'll see where we are. If Hillary should win them, or even say three out of four, I think she will consolidate her support and probably win the nomination.

If Obama should win them, I think you'll see a huge surge in his support (ala Kerry in 2004 and McCain in 2000). He'll have more money than her, so he would easily be able to go into the Super Duper Primary and win there too.

Personally I think Edwards is the Gepthardt of this race. I think he'll be out after Iowa. He was fresh in 2004, and that was part of his appeal. Now that goes to Obama.

6. Notice the steady rise since the last debate...
And those unfav numbers for Obama among Democrats is pretty astounding....

Tip for the Senator from Illinois: You might wanna avoid comparing your popular opponent to the most hated Republican since Herbert Hoover...not gonna go over well with the rank and file!!!

13. Her negatives are going to drop significantly.
She is not who the right wing has made her out to be. The only people paying attention (closely) right now is us. When the real debates start and this gets going, her exposure will help her tremendously. Obama on the other hand, not so much.

7. I know many republicans who are praying that Hillary gets the nomination and are donating to her.
The republicans know (just as the right-wing corporate media who is force feeding her to me every day know) it's in the republicans best interest to get the weakest Dem candidate with lots of baggage nominated...You think the republicans always three steps ahead of the Dems are just sitting around waiting & hoping? Fuck no they are donating in droves to Hillary's campaign!!

19. I believe you're right
I also believe some may register Dem to vote in the primaries. They don't like their own candidates, anyway, so it probably doesn't matter to them who wins, but it DOES matter who wins the dem primary, and it would be very much in the repugs interest to have Hillary win the primary. She would be such a gift to them, unfortunately.

The "force feeding" is so frigging obvious...

11. Tell me how a national poll has any bearing on a primary.
Especially with the schedule we're going to have next year.

15. A national poll
gives a snapshot of how people nationally view the candidates. A large grain of salt is likely called for since most people probably haven't given the candidates as much thought as the candidates might hope. I'm doubtful whether even state polls have much bearing this far out. Lots of people in Iowa and New Hampshire are likely undecided, which may explain why the polls tend to be all over the place. Doesen't mean it's not enjoyable to keep an eye on state and national polls if you're one of those people who tend to obsess over politics.

18. Scott RASMUSSEN is a wacko nutjob living in a ant-gay nutcase compound....

...at Ocean Grove, New Jersey.

Do some Google searchs on Ocean Grove and how the surrounding areas tried to get rid of the asshole.

Why are Hillarites so incredibly infatuated in him???

Even broken watches are correct twice a day ... and besides, he is favored by Faux, Free Republic, NewsMax, and WorldNetDaily --- yet rarely mentioned in other MSM sources.

I'm surprised HRC'ers don't see what he's up to.
