was eisenhower the last republican president who cared? |
Was "president Dwight Eisenhower" the last republican president who put the future of the country ahead of profit? He had the foresight to start the interstate highway system. He invested in the infrastructure of the country. Our infrastructure is failing because we are spending money like drunken sailors and the money is going overseas or to a handful of shady corporations. We need 65 billion to rebuild our bridges,(thats their numbers) we need another 100 billion to up grade the highway system. we need another 100 billion to improve our sewer systems,we need to invest another 100 billion in alternative power. Do you think one of the "BUSH " family give a damn? they helped us get into this sorry situation. SO when you go to the polls to vote, vote to improve our country. public work money stays in the USA,it provides good paying jobs and promotes small businesses. the two "bush " presidents ran up enough in deficits to fund all the above project plus insure the 50 million americans with out insurance for life! A former independent who will vote democrat in 08!

1. Well, I think Reagan cared--but not about us little people. He cared |
about drowning government in the bathtub---and we see where that got us? People drown in rivers when bridges collapse...

8. regan was a propped up puppet |
the only difference between maliki and regan is where they reside. the only independent thought he ever had was given to him in a script! and the same people who put him in the lime light propped up malikl and saddam!

9. That's what people think, but it's not entirely true. |
He certainly didn't give a shit about the details at ALL. That was for his subordinates to figure out, and he chose them carefully for their ability to 'run with it' without a lot of oversight. Once those choices were made, he stopped worrying, even delegating the picking and choosing of replacements.
But he did have a big picture viewpoint, and that viewpoint included drowning the federal government in a bathtub, bloating the military, and of course, Star Wars.

Clinton was to the right of Eisenhower in many or most ways.

7. If you forget what he said, and he said it better than anybody I've ever heard |
including the massively over-rated Raygun, and look at what he did, there is almost nothing to indicate any liberal tendency whatsoever. I think he must have become a Democrat because all the Republik slots were filled.

3. GHWB actually dramatically reversed some of Reagan's more destructive policies... |
such as funding to public housing and summer job programs.

4. They all care, they just define the future of the country differently |
Defining it as them not caring is counterproductive. No one becomes persuaded to change their position when someone is telling them that they don't care. It's true in relationships and it's true in politics also.
