Lax Pentagon Oversight Permits Missing Weapons in Iraq: Are the Missing Weapons Being Used Against our Troops?

From the office of Rep. Dennis Kucinich

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 6) - Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) called the release of the Government Accountability Office (GAO) investigation alarming and more evidence that the Bush Administration is reckless with the safety of our troops.

The GAO report, "DOD Cannot Ensure that U.S.-Funded Equipment has Reached Iraqi Security Forces" reveals that 190,000 weapons given to Iraqi security forces are unaccounted for. This represents 30% of the weapons distributed to Iraq security forces since 2004.

"What assurances do we have that the missing weapons aren't being used to kill American forces in Iraq? The Pentagon cannot provide us that assurance," said Kucinich

"The Bush Administration's unwillingness to pull our troops out of Iraq has led to a series of bad decisions that further endanger troops including less rest and recuperation between tours of duty, inadequate protective armor, and now potentially aiding the insurgency with new weapons," said Kucinich."

As I recall the U.S. left ammo dumps unguarded during the invasion.

Who would have guessed war-mongers would be so incompetent at waging war?

Oh the irony. The sad and tragic irony.

4. OK, Goddamit, Ayesha. Do 2 things:
First, show me some way in Hell that Kucinich could be elected.
And second, show me some way in hell he could live for more than 4 minutes after miraculously being elected.

Do those 2 things and I'll vote for him. I'll work for him.

In the meantime, I figure I have to use whatever power I have to support a candidate who, however soiled, however compromised, will nevertheless provide some curb on the unGodly damage this miserable nation is doing to the world.

6. OK
first of all, people start ignoring the MSM and start talking with their friends. So far, I've shown everyone at the Foundation Kucinich's health care plans and they are all enthusiastic, even the Republicans (who are fed up with Bush and looking for someone to vote for). I will keep on doing this.

Second of all, Kucinich was a target for assassination when he was mayor of Cleveland. He wore a bulletproof vest and kept on working. He is not one who is afraid of attempts on his life. His platform is one that will work, and is well known. It will be important that his running mate be someone who basically agrees with his platform.

One last thing: I look around for political bumper stickers on cars in this very red area of the country. I find it very interesting that the ONLY one I have seen is for Dennis Kucinich.

So will I.
And I'll stay bought all the way through the primaries.
Unless Gore gets in.

14. If you're in a caucus state, ignore "electability" for now
Caucusing for Kucinich advances the agenda I'd like for our leadership to adopt. At the precinct level, therefore, doing that is the only sensible thing to do. As the process moves forward to counties and legislative districts, and then congressional districts, there is plenty of time later for strategic compromise if and when that turns out to be necessary.

Ministry of Oil
The Prince Myshkins

"once again we hear the word “precision”
from people who think bombs can be precise
we hear “the price of fighting terrorism”
from people who don’t have to pay that price
we see a cloud where there should be a college
we see a reservoir reduced to soil
and though they now admit that the marketplace was hit,
they didn’t hit the Ministry of Oil"

18. At least they can blame Iran for arming them
http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1186066387264&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

Rogue Shiite militia fighters said to be armed and trained by Iran were responsible for nearly three-quarters of attacks that killed or wounded Americans in Baghdad last month, the No. 2 US commander in Iraq said Sunday.

Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno said factions that have broken away from radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's Mahdi Army were believed responsible for most of the attacks. He said military successes against al-Qaida had left a void that was being filled by the rogue militiamen. He also blamed Iran for stepping up support for the Shiite fighters in an attempt to influence opinions in Washington ahead of a pivotal progress report on Iraq next month.

"We knew this was coming, but there's been a shift," Odierno told The Associated Press in an interview.
