What was the timeline between the proposal of the Patriot Act and the assassination attempts (anthrax) on Leahy and Daschle? The Patriot Act was passed and signed between October 24, 2002 and October 26, 2001. The attacks on Leahy and Daschle occurred October 6-9, 2001. The press attention to the anthrax scare continued through October.
