Peter Hart, pollster, on CNN said, if nominated, Hillary would be in a close election, as she
"polarizes the Republicans and splits the Independents." Hart also said Obama has to prove his national security bona fides to be acceptable to primary voters, but that he still has time.

1. Obama made case today in Iowa that it's judgment that matters, and "pols who said they knew better
than you did" voted for the Iraq War Resolution, and that it is "judgment, not experience" that really matters.

Sounds like he's starting to make an aggressive case for his judgment on national security matters, Peter Hart.

2. yeah, but Hillary controls the CNN pollsters so this is just a trick to make the GOP overconfident.

3. CNN does not control Peter Hart. He is one of the most respected pollsters around. Have you seen
him do Democratic focus groups on C-Span. He's really good and obviously respects people--unlike that slimy GOP manipulator, Frank Lunz.

7. WHAT?! You're not in love with Joan of Arkansas?! But she's...just...so...so-so
All she's proven up to now is that she'll carefully maneuver until the point where she can really do something. The problem is this: will she ever get to that hallowed place and actually do that elusive something? The concept of finding a third way and not pissing off the forces of primitiveness is a colossal waste of time, and considering what her husband went through, she should see that.

6. Peter Hart seems to be on the level to me, but
when he holds the focus groups I find that the people who participate are some of the most uninformed people I've ever seen. The last one I saw which was broadcast on C-Span several times seemed very unproductive in that a majority of the persons there didn't know who most of the people were who are running for President. I would think that would be a pre-requisite and I'm most alarmed if they represent the average voter and have no idea who they are even voting for.

9. in spite of the fact that his own poll has Edwards lead growing in Iowa
he now leads 30/22/18 over HRC and BO.

what's a guy got to do to make the MSM recognize/acknowledge that he's the best candidate when it comes to actual human beings and what they want and who they would vote for?

11. They're trying to make Edwards invisible, because he's the greater
threat to the power brokers who want the majority of Americans to be slave labor ... to compete with China.

Edwards will have none of it when it comes to leaving Americans in poverty. Hillary and Obama seem to think that corporations know what's best for all of us.

I don't. And neither does Edwards.

14. What does Edwards have to do?
Lead in more than the one state he has practically been living in. No offense to Edwards, but he is forced to focus on Iowa, NH, & SC due to a much smaller warchest than Obama and Hillary. It's a solid strategy, but a high risk one. If he doesn't win in Iowa, he's practically out of the race. Another problem Edwards faces is between now and the primary, Hillary and Obama will be able to out-spend him in Iowa, so it's going to be hard to hold that lead.

He is still seen as a distant 3rd for good reason...he is right now.

15. Polls this far out are political parlor games
He should report on Edwards. If Edwards does well in Iowa, all the parlor talk months away from the first votes will be nothing but stale googleygook...

Frankly, I don't trust CNN and polls anyway, but that's another subject. Google InfoUSA and Vinod Gupta...

16. I believe this. Hillary is the one candidate that can assure a Republican win
in '08.

Please don't vote for her. Hillary supporters please look at the big picture. Please.

17. I used to feel that way
but I am not so sure anymore. Hillary isn't my favorite candidate, but I don't think that she is unelectable in the general election anymore. Not really due to anything she has done, but really due to the weakness of each and every Republican candidate. I think if the Republicans had a decent candidate to put up, then Hillary would have a hard time... but they don't.
