The GOP candidates: let's review
-- Giuliani is nuts

-- Romney is an empty suit

-- Thomson is an idiot (who wears Gucci loafers to a county fair in Iowa?)

-- Huckabee has no ideas

-- The rest of the GOP field is just plain lame, except for Ron Paul. But they don't like Paul because he won't "stay the course" in Iraq.

I can see why the most popular Republican candidate is "none of the above."

1. The Huck
Comes off well on TV, is a former governor, has instant cred. with religious fundamentalists, and is positioning himself as a, "Gee schucks, why can't we all just work together to fix the country?" candidate.

If he had money and better name ID, he'd probably be running the table right now. But otherwise, it isn't looking too promising for them.

3. Why? We're not voting for them.
And there's a fun chance that the Republicans aren't, either.

4. I wouldn't say Rudy's nuts, but too authoritarian, and not qualified for the office.
Romney's an empty suit, but ruthless and shrewd--and looks the part. Thompson--meh. Bored with him already--he made a jackass out of himself by drawing out the "Second Coming" vibe a little too long. There used to be people here who liked him--where'd they go? McCain--dead man walking. Huckster--Gomer Pyle with baggage, magical Bible thinking and a psychotic view of the GWOT (believes we're fighting a worldwide holy war). Brownback--why does he bother? Paul--The war's gotta end sometime--and then we're stuck with the bad parts of him. No thanks! You're right--they are a motley band of doofuses. I'm trying not to be overconfident, but it's hard...
