WTF!?!?!?!?!?! Military recommends dropping charges in Haditha massacre

Twenty four civilians were killed in various attacks, including seven women and three children. Eighteen of the killings are still being examined for possible charges.

According to the San Diego Union Tribune, "only the squad leader, Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, still faces unpremeditated-murder charges in connection with the killings of 18 people."

This is the second case in which Lt. Col. Paul Ware recommended dropping charges because of a "complex combat environment." Ware wrote that the killings were "tragedies" but that the Marine, Lance Cpl. Stephen B. Tatum, followed the "laws of combat."

Bullshit, total bullshit as far as I am concerned. What "complex combat environment" excuses lining up children and basically executing them?

Fuck this shit...IMO.

3. That defense didn't work at Nuremberg
But then again, the people sitting in judgment of the Nazis weren't their superior officers, either. I wonder if an Iraqi tribunal or a non-military tribunal of international judges might come to a different conclusion?

6. My thoughts exactly....
...it's an immoral war with immoral conduct covered up and excused by the higher ups who lied to get us where we should never have been in the first place.

Are you aware of the facts of that "engagement" between heavily-armed soldiers and unarmed civilians?

20. "Small" fact like that would not matter to someone who...
...supports the slaughter of innocent children. But thanks for pointing out the obvious to this poster even tho I am sure it will not matter to him/her that what took place was the cold-blooded murder of unarmed civilians. To some, IMO, this is not only OK and excusable, but a good thing to do.

Makes me want to :puke:

4. All the male members of my family are vets...
...save one who is severely handicapped...and I don't recall any of them saying they were trained to execute unarmed children who were hiding from them.

10. LOL....
...go back and lick your wounds with your Nazi pals on Free Repuke. You think you fooled anyone here? Hardly ~~ anyone who promotes the slaughter of innocent children to support American imperialism is someone who needs to re-evaluate what it means not only to be an American, but what it means to be a human being.

22. I come from a military family
and have a sister serving right now. I can guarantee you none of them would see execution sytle killing of civilians as ok. I know you don't really think it is ok either. We have a professional military and they are proud of that. You demean their service when you state it is ok and any service person who takes pride in their job will tell you so.

21. I would not be okay with my own son or daughter killing
innocent children. "This is war" or "I was under orders" is crap. Wrong is wrong. Supporting the troops or the country is not the same thing as turning a blind eye to what is wrong and/or evil.
