Need help DU'ing a local yocal poll ... pleaaase, pretty please??
A repulsive Republican from Anchorage, Dan Sullivan; Tom DeLay look alike-->

---is running for mayor at the end of our current Democratic mayor's second term.

He's proposing all sorts of changes to the city that would (according to the Anchorage Daily News) benefit Republicans. (The mayor's seat is supposed to be non-partisan)

Last week he proposed changing the percentage a mayor is elected by.. then he proposed redistricting the Assembly, now this week he's proposing that school board members be elected by District. It's working great just the way it is!

Here's what the Anchorage Daily News said about his latest proposel today:

..his notion to have School Board members elected by districts raises criticism that board members might become more parochial in their views than they are under the current system, which has all seven members elected on a citywide basis.

Mr. Sullivan says his impetus for this change comes from community council meetings, where he tells residents to contact their School Board members on education issues and is asked, "Who is my School Board member?"

Right now, they all are. Mr. Sullivan cited an occasional concentration of board members from one area of town. But it's not clear that individual districts would give us better schools or representation, or that there's any wide demand to make such a change.

The burden of proof is on Mr. Sullivan to show how and why Anchorage would be better served by these changes, partisan politics aside. Unless he can, there's no reason to fix what isn't broken.

BOTTOM LINE: City's election system works well as it is.

--------------------------------------------

So please, piss off Republican Dan Sullivan and help us by saying NO to him!

** These on-line polls here REALLY make big news in this town... and this one needs serious help!!!!

I think everyone in town (except Dan Sullivan's family members) are out at the state fair tonight and this poll needs some NO responses..
