The willingness to listen to advisers/experts who are more knowledgeable than he/she is.
Also, the humility to admit that they were wrong.

5. You didn't include the most important experience. |
|
Life as one of the non-elite working class. Actual experience living, not like the well-to-do, comfortable, elite, but like the people who most need you to represent them. First hand knowledge of the people.
Time spent in government, especially congress, should be on that list.
A decent education should be on the list.
Experience in telling the truth, standing up for what is right even when it's not popular, keeping your word, being consistent, being trustworthy, working hard on issues, being persistent...all of those are also vital experiences that the POTUS should bring to the wh.

Funny, I was about to post a similar one, but you beat me to it!
So far, the results seem to agree with what I'm hearing from people on the street. Interestingly, not many of them consider congressional or gubernatorial/mayoral experience a big plus anymore.
Fascinating, because it flies directly in the face of conventional wisdom and speaks to the fact that people want *change*.
When I ask them why they feel this way, most say that they are tired of business as usual and they don't trust Washington insiders. Looking at the latest Congressional approval ratings numbers (the lowest in history), I'm not inclined to disagree.
