1. The options in Idaho are awful
Are there still any registered Dems in Idaho?

I used to think that Mike Crapo was the most embarrassing politician in Ohio. But now he's been usurped.

2. It'll be Mike Simpson or the Lt. Gov (forgot his name)

4. In that case, there's a need to get out in front of it
and find whatever dirt there is to be found on this guy. A cursive glance at the Wiki article reveals an opportunistic slezebol who is obviously pandering to the RW fringe; there's no way this guy actually believes in the snake oil he's selling. There's gotta be some skeletons in his closet; I'm leaning toward financial ones, personally. He impresses me as a very bribe-able individual.

7. Most of the ID GOP hates him and thinks he's crazy
But of course, that wouldn't necessarily stop him from being appointed... When he was running 2006, they actually trotted Cheney out to his district because the GOP's polls showed him losing (he ended up winning 50-45).

5. I don't know anything about Idaho politics, but Craig's resignation
can do nothing but hurt an already bruised Party. Read some of the other posts on DU about comments from other Pubs. Comments like "What's next?', "How low can we go?", and "the public believes their Republican officials don't represent their values and are hypocrits!"

Idaho, at least now, is a very Red State. You most likely have no choice but to get a Pub replacement to Craig, but the dirt will rub off! I hope Howard has a few Dem candidates hiding somewhere who can run a good campaign in 08!

6. I hope so too
I don't think Sali could get elected in the general, but he could do plenty of crazy in the next 1.5 years...
