Angus Reid Global Monitor : Polls & Research
Approval for Bush Slowly Recovering in U.S.
August 26, 2007

(Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Public backing for the United States president is gradually improving, according to a review of four recent public opinion polls. In a survey by Opinion Dynamics released by Fox News, 33 per cent of respondents approve of how George W. Bush is handling his job, up one point since mid-July.

Bush’s approval rating stands at 32 per cent in a study by Gallup released by USA Today, 31 per cent in a poll by the Pew Research Center for the People and the Press, and 28 per cent in a survey by American Research Group. In three of these four studies, the president’s positive numbers increased.

Bush—a Republican—earned a second four-year term in the November 2004 presidential election.
The U.S. president’s approval rating has not surpassed the 40 per cent mark in a national survey since December 2006.

1. What's the margin of error?
Are these numbers within that range?

I don't know anyone who has changed their mind about this asshole.

2. Sure, only 70% of us hate his guts now
In his dreams, of course, but if that's their idea of "improvement" ...

3. I suspect that it has more to do with Iraq.
Deaths are down a bit, and the surge is getting better press.

5. More likely a statistical anomaly, given the tiny "improvement"
Give it two weeks.
