Bush: "Better days" ahead two years after Katrina

NEW ORLEANS (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Wednesday declared "better days" ahead for New Orleans despite complaints over slow rebuilding and amid lingering political fallout two years after Hurricane Katrina's destruction. Widely criticized for a slow federal response to the disaster that left buildings in ruins and thousands homeless, Bush made his 15th visit to the region and tried to calm frustration at the pace of relief efforts.

"My attitude is this: New Orleans, better days are ahead. It's sometimes hard for people to see progress when you live in a community all the time," he said following a moment of silence at 9:38 a.m. local time, the time of day when the levees broke and the city began to flood two years ago.

Two years after the worst natural disaster in the United States, critics say the federal response is still lagging.

Katrina flooded 80 percent of New Orleans and killed about 1,400 people. Only about 60 percent of the city's pre-storm population of half a million has come back.

Photographic PROOF that he CARES, dammit:

1. What a tool.
We should have pulled all troops out of Iraq as soon as Katrina's devastation was apparent. And as a country, we should have thrown out all of BushCo after the shoddy post-Katrina response.

2. didn't he say that 2 yrs ago?
that better days were coming.......

Remember all of the stuff he promised them? And then he selected Rove to oversee the distribution of funds.....that's like asking the fox to guard the henhouse!

Anyway, I'll believe it when I see it.

The only way that anything will get better there is when a new President is elected.

I'm sure New Orleans residents were not comforted when he told them they can't see change when they are living there, seeing the same sites over and over again. That's just an insulting statement. I'm sure they are able to recognize a restored building from one that has not been restored.

4. My best guess...
...is that some people want to believe that they actually have a President.

I'm a Catholic. During the 2004 election, during our Masses, during the "intentions" portion, we were asked to pray for Presidential candidates who "respected the rights of the unborn."

Subliminal message: John Kerry is a baby killer.

But don't take my word for it.

Listen to one of my best friends, a fellow Catholic, who also happens to be my attorney:

"But John Kerry believes in abortion."

NO, HE DOESN'T.

John Kerry believes in a mother's right to CHOOSE. Pro-Choice is NOT "Pro-Abortion."

But that's not the message that Karl Rove delivered across the nation.

The message was that John Kerry was a baby killer.

Never mind the fact that as soon as those "babies" turned 18, George W. Bush was more than willing to throw them into the Iraqi meat grinder.

John Kerry fucks with BABIES.

George W. Bush fucks with men and women over 18. That's better. And George W. Bush's favorite philosopher is Jesus (http://clarionherald.org/20000106/maestri.htm), so he CANNOT be wrong. He's God's Little Chosen Prince. GOD chose Bush to be president! (Or so he believes)...

Thanks, Karl. Burn in Hell.
