Vilsack seems like a good running mate for Kerry or Edwards. I think he's fairly protectionist, and being Governor of Iowa, he'll help us in swing states.

4. I would support him as VP |

Mainly to make way for the much more liberal and likeable Sally Pederson who is our Lt. Gov.
Vislsack sold out his base in the name of economic development. He has our economy in Iowa doing great, but at a great cost to injured workers and people who have been injured. The Repukes tied his economic development plan to tort deform and he went back on campaign promises and signed the bill. There is ongoing litigation over his line item vetos. Needless to say, the Lt. Gov. would be preferable in Terrace Hill over Vilsack. She is a smart, savy woman who will make a great Governor here.

2. Vilsack is a "friend" of Kerry's |
|
I hesitate to use the word, "crony," but it really is more appropriate, but somewhat offensive. I trust Vilsack as far as I can throw him, and he's a big man and he's way out in Iowa, so that's how much I trust him. If he does pick Vilsack, I think that would be the final straw for me concerning Kerry's campaign and I'm almost certain then I will vote Third Party/Write-in.

6. Vilsack has been a big disappointment to me |

He was to be the "Education Governor," and he is pretty much letting the legislature eviscerate higher ed without so much as a whimper. Not a whole lot he can do about it, but at least he could bitch at them about it.

The man has stature, gravitas, is a great speaker, has rock-solid liberal credentials, is 'squeaky clean', etc., plus his senate seat is not up this year.
