Is your family used to talking politics?

Are you able to discuss politics with ALL your friends?

4. Yes and no.

Some of my friends (and family) get tired of my political rants - I get told to relax. But there are others with whom I can talk politics till the proverbial cows come home.

5. Actually, I just argued with my parents, who insist a black person
will never be president of the US. They think I'm wasting my time on Obama.

8. I don't know... but it breaks my heart and hurts me deeply.
If we don't believe we can achieve things, then racism has defeated us.

10. Hey, I just had a talk with a good friend who is one of the good guys,
and she said there are too many fucking racists in this country to elect a black president. And she said it with great sadness in her voice. DAMN but I hate having to drag those fuckers around like a ball & chain around my ankles. I am SO SICK of being stuck neck-deep in a pit filled with neanderthals. We're in the frickin 21st century, already!!!

11. If they are right , that is so incredibly SAD!
 Try not to despair! people said the same thing about President Kennedy being Catholic... Obama is very young and yet he does have a great chance at being picked as Vice-President in 2008! Keep fighting the good fight... Your parents may be in for a surprise! :loveya:

12. ...unfortuneately...
...whenever I ask a question about current events, most of the adults in my life reply "I haven't had time to listen to the news much lately" or words to that effect...I did get a thrill of hope however when I read my daughters (17) history paper and she was going on about how government is there to protect our rights, not grant them to us...
