Hillary surges in NH; 54% say she has the best chance to beat Republican nominee.
CNN) -- Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton has significantly increased her lead over rival Barack Obama in the crucial early-voting state of New Hampshire, according to a CNN/WMUR poll conducted by the University of New Hampshire released Tuesday.

The New York Democrat registered 43 percent in the latest poll, 23 points more than Obama, an Illinois senator. In a similar poll conducted in July, only 9 points separated the candidates, with Clinton then at 36 percent and Obama at 27 percent.

<snip>

In more good news for Clinton, 54 percent of New Hampshire Democrats said Clinton has the best chance of beating the Republican nominee in the general election -- compared with only 37 percent who thought that in the July survey.

"There is no doubt that Democratic primary voters in the Granite State see her as the most electable candidate," Holland said.

8. I thought most agreed that any democrat would beat a republican.
Thats what I thought everyone was saying? I think its true, we should be focusing on who would stand up and speak for the people for once, who would represent our voice.

9. 54% of DEMOCRATS think she is the most electable
That would be great if only Dems were voting in the General. What a stupid poll question.

13. Vinod Gupta's InfoUSA links with Clinton campaign and CNN polls...
A nice read that would make the Clinton campaign uncomfortable if the MSM ever grew some balls:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/07/14/us/politics/14gupta.html?n=Top/Reference/Times%20Topics/People/C/Clinton,%20Bill&pagewanted=print

Gupta loves the Clintons so much that he has built places like the “Bill Clinton Science and Technology Center” and the “Hillary Rodham Clinton Mass Communication Center” for the Gochar Intermediate College, Rampur Maniharan, India.

Whenever CNN brings out a poll such as this one, just follow the money... literally.

it's been pointed out that the Republicans have little chance of winning the election in '08 period. Any Dem candidate can win. In fact, there was a post earlier pointing out that a vocal majority of those saying that the Rethugs have any chance of winning in '08 are DU posters. I believe that it's being repeated over and over again on DU mostly by the Clinton supporters who try to tout that she is the only one who can beat the Republicans. And this is being shoved down our throat because there really is no way to defend her profit trumps healthcare, profit trumps domestic jobs, power trumps peace platform.

Any of the Dems can win. The Rethugs have buried themselves. Why on earth don't we pick a candidate that stands for the core values of the Democratic party instead of one who caters to the conservative right?

"Given a choice between a Republican and someone who acts like a Republican......

*edit to add - unless of course it's rigged again and then it won't matter who the Dem candidate is.

19. Just because she says it; does NOT make it true. Latest 'Democratic' Poll shows her loosing
Obama has a better chance in the '08 election than Hillary does.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/26/wclinton126.xml
. . . The leaked poll found that Mr Giuliani, a centrist Republican with liberal stances on issues such as abortion and gay rights, leads Mrs Clinton by 49 per cent to 39 per cent in the swing districts.

The former New York mayor enjoyed a much slimmer lead of just one per cent over Mr Obama in the poll, conducted in August. It has long been known that Mrs Clinton has "high negatives" among voters but the assessment of Mr Obama that his "image is soft, and one-fifth of voters do not gave a firm impression of him" was a surprise.

The poll found that Mrs Clinton, in particular, could damage the chances of congressional Democratic candidates on the ballot. The sensitivity of the issue was underlined by the reluctance of Democrats to discuss the survey.

"We're not commenting on this poll," said Daniel Gotoff, co-author of the memo accompanying the Lake Research poll. "It was leaked and obviously not by us." . . .
