OBAMA FIGHTS BACK AT BILL CLINTON EXPERIENCE JAB

From NBC/NJ's Aswini Anburajan
CONCORD, N.H. -- Sen. Barack Obama may still shy away from directly attacking Sen. Hillary Clinton by name, but in Concord today, he referenced her husband to distinguish his experience from those who have spent too many years in Washington.

"I remember what was said years ago by a candidate running for President." He said, “The same old experience is not relevant. You can have the right kind of experience and the wrong kind of experience."

"Well that candidate was Bill Clinton. And I think he was absolutely right."

Obama toughened his lines on why "playing the game in Washington" was detrimental, tying those who taut their beltway credentials to the deaths of thousands of American troops in iraq.

"There are those who say we they can play the game in washington. Well we shouldn't be playing a game when young men and women are dying in the battlefields of iraq," Obama told the crowd. "We don't need the kind of experience that leads people into war."

His speech stressed his years as a consensus builder in the Illinois state senate and his role in helping pass ethics reform in Washington. Once again he would not refer to Sen. Clinton by name, but positioned himself as someone who was free of the special interest influence that could impede the passage of major legislative reforms.

3. Who is the backstabber?
Obama's simply responding to the Big Dawg's hollow attacks on Obama's supposed lack of experience...the sort of experience he said didn't matter in 1992.

15. Now that's funny.
Obama did NOT reference Hillary. The writer of the article did. Obama refered to the 'wrong kind of beltway experience' and you, like the one who wrote the article, ASSUMED he was referencing Hillary.

Now why is that?

2. Obama's right. "Slick Willie's" "shill game" is getting old...
In the 1992 clip, The Big Dawg practically endorses Obama's candidacy of today --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMlrSG1xb5k

16. I Wish It Would Stop
I wish people wouldn't use right wing talking points to insult any of our candidates and that includes "The Breck Girl" "Osama Obama", Hitlery, Shrillary, "the Clenis", "Clintoon, etcetera...

We're better than that...

Hey, are the Dolphins "killing" you yet? They are "killing" me... Maybe the Heat will be more succesful...

That is when it comes to experience

With all due respect to Barack, George was a Governor. I rest my case :)

While I think he may not be ready for Pres., maybe for VP, I think he's better than Dan Quayle at this point for VP.

33. Hillary saying she has experience
is a slap in the face to Biden, Dodd and Kucinich who all trump her in that department.

I hope one of them takes her to task about that.

12. Wes Clark has never held a single elected office.
Yet strangely, I never heard the experience thing used against him like it is with Obama. I don't recall Bill Clinton coming out to make that point about him either.

29. Neither did Colin Powell for 2000, and he would have
been a shoe in for the GOP nod that year, but dropped out. Wonder what the difference was between him and Clark in 2004? And did Clark cut a deal with Hillary for the endorsement? We'll see, if she wins the general election.

I often think Eisenhower in the 50's, but I think he was a university president for a few years between his war hero and US Pres. gigs?

but you were once. As for borrowing your 1992 rhetoric, there's lots more where that came from.

Many thanks.

24. Why?
Why in the hell would you hope that?

We didn't even SEE her at all from 2002 up until she announced she was running- and when we did it was so that she could express support for Bush's policies and put distance between herself and supporters of the correct positions. She hid from the media and gave us no support at all. She couldn't even throw us a bone every once in awhile. Even today, instead of proposing something that would actually fix our broken healthcare system, she's proposing simply throwing taxpayer money at the corrupted private insurance corporations who are bleeding us dry.

After years of do-nothing "leadership" and hiding, now she's stepping into the limelight and expecting to be crowned our nominee.

Why on Earth would you want her to be our President?

Edited on Sun Sep-30-07 08:26 AM by Ethelk2044
when she realized that he would attack back, she started whining. Obama is correct. Bill was on the same level as Obama. The words came out of Clinton's on mouth about his experience. It is on youtube where he was stating he had little experience in a debate. They were attacking. Get your FACTS straight before trying to smear. Hillary has been trying to attack and attack Obama. However nothing is sticking.
