Jon Stewart giving Kerry heck |
|
for sounding so zombie-like last night.
Stewart likened Kerry's speechifying to a canned answering-machine message in cadence and tone.

8. Nah, it's just that I saw it before so it's kind of old news, |
|
but this thread does seem to go with the theme for today, so whatever.

they're already starting on kerry for being "stiff"---replaying the entire Gore scenario all over again. Kerry needs to wise up fast and learn how to be much more approachable.

I think Kerry wants to be as dead as possible.

17. Yes, someone should sit Kerry down... |
|
... and make him watch Al's post-SCOTUS-screwing speech, when he finally conceded the election to the ROG.
Kerry needs to get rid of the constant dour face and tone. It's just gonna turn people off. He's gotta inspire hope, and his funereal manners don't.
I still think Kerry is our best hope against Bush (since we're returning our "gift"), but he's not helping his chances by maintaining the monotone.

Plays classical guitar to relax.
He and Dean are both good guitarists, in fact.

13. Kerry--who obviously gives the speech written for him--needs |
|
a new speechwriter. You can't write a professorial speech for someone who sounds so, well, professorial. They should take his rhetoric down about three notches on the Orator-o-meter. Make him sound like a regular, smart, articulate guy who happens to have a deep voice.

14. I think it's Kerry's doing |
|
He has a baaaad case of Camelot envy, even when compared to other men his age. That's his idea of statesmanlike behavior. He could-and ought to-show more of Kennedy's other public aspect: the relaxed but pointed wit, which cautious campaigning has beaten out of him (Remember when he was stumping last fall? "I came to Iowa and by God, I'm going to get a hay bale to stand on!").
You're right about the speeches, though. The stuff he's getting just doesn't engage people. "Yea, verily, I say unto thee: dast thou take the hindmost part of righteousness? Nay, thou dast not..." :)
