Man! I Feel Like a Woman!
However, much of the male dominated beltway pundit class and male dominated netroots community still doesn't grasp the significance. Just the opposite: they write about "cleavage" and "cackling". Or, as the quitessential old white dude pundit Al Hunt writes this week, about not being able to find the "joy" in Clinton's campaign. Well, Al, I hate to tell you but that might be similar to something Bob Dylan once wrote about clueless journalists, "There's something happening here and you don't know what it is, do you MISTER Jones." The United States is on the verge of electing its first female President. And, that is pretty joyous to many of us

.....

For those of you frustrated by the inability of other contenders to cut into Hillary's lead, stop and think about the numbers for a moment. Women are 58% of the Democratic primary voters. Hillary leads among women by 30% to 40% margins nationally. This means that a candidate trying to catch her would have to open up an astronomical offsetting advantage among men voters, probably 50% or more. The sizeable tilt towards women in the voting public puts any male candidate in the hole against a strong female candidate when it's time to count ballots. Enough of the silly comparisons to Howard Dean's collapse. Clinton has a strong, and highly energized, base.

9. That's really what the article implies, isn't it
And I don't appreciate your deliberately obtuse attempt to paint me as sexist.

Unless, of course, it isn't deliberate...

20. I See The Point You Are Trying To Make
But Hillary Clinton is at least as qualified as her peers... It's not as if women are voting for Pink or Britney Spears to be president...

21. No,
I think your post was sexist...

To vote for someone because of their gender, color or looks is damned lame.

You are implying, by your post, that because I am a woman, I will not bother to look at the real issues and just vote for any woman who happens to run for office.

Is it your argument that stating "women are too stupid to vote for anyone without matching genitalia" is not sexist...

I'll be glad to argue that

16. It's a stupid move to degenerate women for
celebrating the excitement of being here to witness the first serious female contender for the Presidency. That will not lessen,it will grow. Whether you care for her politics or not, this is an exiting moment that our grandmothers would not think possible.Let the women who choose to celebrate do so,without berating them for it.

7. More From The Article
"In 1996, we learned that the power of the women's vote was being underestimated, something that is happening again in the analysis so far of this election. For women in their 90s, it means having gone full circle from first getting the vote to having a women president. For those who are working, it means breaking the ultimate glass ceiling. And for parents of both genders, it means being able to tell their daughters as well as their sons that they could grow up to be president some day."

...

My mom is eighty nine years old...God bless her... She's in the other room eating dinner, watching "Hardball"...At first she didn't know if a woman could be president...Now she's enthralled by the prospect...

5. Some Democrat... When you take out women, minorities and the poor, what's Hillary got?
I was surprised to see in the ARG poll that Edwards is at 8% women and 17% men. Only Biden has a bigger gender gap. That struck me as counterintuitive, but I guess the Hillary factor is blunting his appeal to women.

I'll vote for Hillary if she's the dem nominee. But, some of her positions are very disappointing.

12. I voted for Hillary twice for Senator
I am voting for Obama in the primaries, if I even can now in Florida now. I don't vote based on GENDER. I vote for the PERSON who I feel is the best on all the issues. If Hillary wins the primary and is the Dem candidate, I will vote for her in the general election for President.

22. I Wish The Woman Was Not Trying So Hard to Be Macho
I've waited for years for a woman to run. During the 90's, I even hoped to vote for Hillary Clinton some day. But she has so thoroughly and so consistently disappointed me on matters of warfare and the battle against global terrorism.

She clearly feels that she must come down hawkish to make it to the Oval Office. Or, worse, she actually believes what she says and how she votes.

There is a very good chance that the United States will face another terrorist attack in the next four years - and I say that as a New Yorker. I simply do not have confidence in the choices that she would make, nor do I have any indication that she understands the long-term struggle combatting the roots of terrorism over the next 25 years.

I think she continues to see this life-and-death issue through the prism of politics, and that unfortunately overrides my strong desire to see a woman make history.
