WHEN ARE WE GONNA TAKE THE FREAKIN' OFFENSIVE AGAINST SLIMBAUGH????? |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-19-07 10:51 AM by Greenwood
Am I missing something? Seriously, am I missing something?
I am new to the board so I really don't have any "pull" or whatever. Perhaps I am simply naive. However, this Reid letter to public enemy #1 Rush has been TOTALLY Hi-jacked and turned around. RUSH MADE A HORRIBLE COMMENT!!!!!!! HE FREAKIN' DID IT!!!!!!!! HE WAS IN THE WRONG!!!!!!!! AND HE IS TURNING THIS WHOLE THING AGAINST US. Over $2,000,0000 and on the news. Please, guys.
WHY doesn't Reid and the Democrats take action????? Are they going to sit back and let this happen? Can they not once again MAKE IT CLEAR what took place and SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT?
Call me paranoid or whatever but I am at a complete loss of words. In about 20 minutes I am going to have to hear 4 COMPLETE IDIOTS in the office next to me hoop and hollar when their drug addict hero comes on. It would make my YEAR if just one time something would work out for us. If we could grow a backbone and not sit idly by and get run over.
If I am out of line then I apologize.

2. You must mean SlimEbaugh. |
|
Because he is slimy.
The guy in the office next to me listens to Limpballs. I can't stand it, so I turn up the stereo in the reception area so you can't hear Rush when you walk by the guy's office.
If you want to be out of touch with reality, Rush is the show to listen to.
Who else but a fat, balding, wheezing, gasbag, drug addict? There's so much there to admire.

3. God, I do NOT know, my friend. Welcome to DU, btw. It is beyond |

frustrating to me. The only fire in the belly comes from places like this one. Most of our people on Capitol Hill (except, of course, for the MAGNIFICENT Pete Stark) seems so much more willing to be meek and ladylike and nobody seems to want to flex any muscle whatsoever.
But then again, I'm one of those smack-'em-upside-the-head-with-a-2x4 people. What do I know?
MY KINGDOM for some BACKBONE!!!!
My guy is Henry Waxman, who is more or less wonderful, but also, WAY too meek anymore. HOW MANY subpoenas has he issued by now? And contradicta and the rest of 'em just thumb their noses. So what we actually now have is a precedent under which Congressional subpoenas no longer mean anything. If you feel like ignoring them because you're too busy or you're just such hot stuff, you can simply go ahead and do so. It's not like anybody's gonna do anything about it.
Frustrates the LIVING HELL out of me.

4. Wes Clark called for action that we can support |

He currently has about 35,000 signatures on an email campaign to Congress asking them to remove Limbaugh from Armed Forces Radio because of his remarks. Here is the link: http://ga4.org/campaign/dumprush/

5. WELCOME! RE: Limpaws - I've always wondered that myself - why didn' t Bill |
|
Clinton take him on -he was merciless in his derision of him. Why didn't he challenge him to a debate at "high noon" - as Limpie will never debate anyone he could have at least embarrassed him with the empty (!!) podium.

RE limpy, I think people don't comprehend what a HRC presidency would be like. She plays her cards close to her chest, but I don't see the good natured wish-me-well mojo we saw in Bill. It could well be a vindictive presidency. with her right wing opponents being the chief targets. And it would not be the first time thats been done ;)

9. Thank you for the welcome. |

It's the first one. Maybe it's the name which I took it from a Kurt Vonnegut story - The Big Space Fuck:
" The man who was interviewing Senator Snopes ... reminded the Senator of his campaign to eliminate the bald eagle as the national bird. The Senator explained that he didn’t like to have his country represented by a creature that obviously hadn’t been able to cut the mustard in modern times. Asked to name a creature that had been able to cut the mustard, the Senator did better than that: he named two—the lamprey and the bloodworm. And, unbeknownst to him or to anybody, lampreys were finding the Great Lakes too vile and noxious even for them. "

10. Harry Reid was just on the Senate floor commending Rush for |
|
raising money for charity in this manner. He even urged people to participate in the eBay bidding.
I suspect he is trying to keep Rush from spinning this as some great victory over the Senate dems, by sharing in the "success" of the auction. ;)

It'd be even better if Harry had said, "and this will only allow more people to learn about what got this whole thing started--your despicable comment about 'phony soldiers.'" But, ok.
Truth is, Rush's listeners will continue to support him, but everyone else who heard about the "phony soldiers" remark knows that the guy's just being his usual asshole self.

12. Stop worrying about this latest from Rush |
|
1. The letter auction is not "news," although Dittoheads want you to think that it is.
2. People know the guy already. They are not surprised, any more, when he says dumb shit like the "phony soldiers" line. He's been saying shit like this since the '88 campaign. You either think he's a jerk, or you don't.
3. Reid and the democrats can't "Take action" any more than they already have. Rush thrives on the attention; if Harry decided to hold five pressers in as many days telling everyone that Rush said disgusting things, it'd probably only help.
4. I know what it's like to work with Reich Wingers. You start thinking the whole world of Stupid White Men are thinking in lockstep with these Reich Wingers. They do not.
It's just that stupid white men feel a kinship with this creepy, fucked-up, drug-addicted, closet-homo, failed-husband, chickenhawk loudmouth punk. It says a great deal about them.
Be strong.

your comment about stupid white men feeling a kinspip with him is only part of it.
I have seen stupid white men and stupid black men (as well as all races of women) subscribe to the wacko conservative line of thinking. It is mind-boggling.

Bigots come in all shapes, sizes, colors, genders, and sexual orientations.
But let's do face facts--Rush's audience, like the Republican party itself, is overwhelmingly white/male. and switching gears a bit, the only major demographic that is still reliably republican is white males.
As a white male, I find this irksome, myself.
