Daily KOS: Candidates with Courage: The Leaders We Need
Oct. 22: From a Daily Kos post by Sam Spencer for County Commissioner, “Candidates with Courage: The Leaders We Need.” He chooses political candidates, including Senator Joe Biden, for their courage. Hiighlights follow with Web link to full diary, below. “In this current climate, we have to make sure that our candidates have courage,” he writes. “Courage fights for us. Courage stands up for the Constitution and working Americans. Courage wins.”

Sen. Joe Biden (POTUS)
“We’ve all heard the recent news, that the Senator is standing up against a terrible FISA bill. While Dodd is getting a lot of props (and rightfully so), I’ve been impressed by Joe Biden’s courage for a long time.

“He marched in Wilmington with civil rights groups, and he fought a tough, uphill, upset battle when he first ran for Senate as a 29-year-old. And then he had to face the death of his wife and his daughter in between winning his election and joining the Senate. For twenty years, he raised a family and rarely spent more than one night at a time in Washington. Many Senators do what is easy; Biden did what was right.

“However, what’s often forgotten is how Joe Biden stood up to Bush back in 2002. Back when everyone who disagreed with Bush was fair game, Joe objected to the Hastert Iraq War Resolution, did not vote for it in committee, and drafted the Biden-Lugar Resolution.

“Though all of our presidential candidates who were in the Senate at the time ultimately made the wrong decision, Biden was the first candidate to stand up to Bush’s Iraq plans in the Senate. That took courage.”

2. I agree.I like Biden and unlike the frontrunner, his experience is real. But he does
have some unfortunate ties to the banking industry but that may be impossible to eliminate as he is from Delaware. But he is the real deal in many ways.

4. I've been sending what little bit of $$ I can afford to Joe for a while
now. I only wish it could be more! I still don't understand why he's not at the very least, one of the front runners! He did a terrific job on "This Week" on Sunday. George S. asked him how he deals with the other candidates who say his plan for Iraq won't work. Joe said, "I say OK, you don't like my plan. What's yours? Nobody else has a plan! They just say the status quo isn't working."

I'm still hoping Joe does really well in Ia. and NH. Then MAYBE more people will pay attention to him!

7. No one else talks like that!
And he backs it up with substance. People don't like being talked down to and they don't like evasion. More people need to actually hear him as the contrast to the other candidates is striking.

5. "Many Senators do what is easy; Biden did what was right"
That sums up Biden perfectly as a Senator and a candidate.

He is the only one that is out there taking risks while on the campaign trail.

10. Someone said he was running like he had nothing to lose
and that is apparent in his forthright, unvarnished approach.

toward the helicopters as they landed with the wounded.

Why isn't it on Biden's website?

15. It's not on his site
my guess would be because it's not an "official" piece. But it is listed on his favorites on his Youtube site. Along with my other video.

16. They are making a mistake.
They need help with advertising, and they should use this.
