The Obama campaign made a stupid, boneheaded decision to hire a nasty bigot on a fundraising event. The GLBT community are getting up in arms about that. Senator Obama has GLBT supporters who donate to his campaign. I hardly think they're pleased with this right now. Senator Obama and his campaign has a problem right now with the GLBT campaign and GLBT supporters of Barack Obama.

This is fixable. Senator Obama can fix this. And we wish that he would.

And sniffa was perfectly right in displaying that sign. The Obama campaign (which, I would presume, would have several high level people in Boston yesterday. Including Senator and Mrs. Obama) needs to know that people are pissed about this. And not just here at DU.

I agree completely. Take him to task on it but please leave the hyperbole at the door.

He does need to fix it, it was a bad call and got worse when mcjerkin went against what he said he was going to do and spouted his anti gay bs. Obama shouldn't have allowed him the opportunity to do it. And he needs to be confronted on it.

But I also think the criticism needs to be a[ropriate and thoughtful. Theres no way obama is a bigot and i think anyone willing to look at his record has to agree. He made a bad decision here to allow this dumbass to go on but that does not make him a bigot nor should it entitle people to distort his views as anything but supportive of the gay community up until this point.
