2. Views of people who post here are not really important |
|
I think there are a lot of people who will NOT vote for Hillary in a primary, (as I will not) but who still view her favorably, (as I do).
It's the views of the people who actually go to the polls on primary days in various states, and people who go to the polls on election day, next year in November, that matter.
Is there any reason for this poll here that I am missing?

3. A recent poll shows Hillary is approved by 80% of all dems |
|
I'm guessing the OP is gathering evidence for a "DU doesn't represent the Democratic Party" thread

the Democratic party doesn't represent the democratic citizens. Or 96% of all citizens. We have two parties that represent 4% of the people and 100% of the corporations.

10. Not rude at all. You practically invited it |
|
Let's review what you said:
"the Democratic party doesn't represent the democratic citizens. Or 96% of all citizens. We have two parties that represent 4% of the people and 100% of the corporations."
If you really believe that the party only represents 4% of the people, then why in the world would you support them?
I think you're missing the big picture. You consider yourself a member of a group that doesn't represent you.

like I'm only given the choice of the lesser of two evils. Because Al Gore is a democrat and he gives me hope. On any given day there are a number of different reasons I call myself a democrat. Who are you to question me? Someone with 2,000 posts here in two weeks questioning who and what I am is not only laughable, but slightly arrogant.
You believe that we have a real two party system? Have you been paying attention lately? Who exactly are the Democrats representing when they cave to everything the Republicans want? Who are they representing when they continue to fund an illegal occupation? Who are they representing when they take impeachment off the table? Who are they representing when they ship domestic jobs overseas? Are they representing you?
I see the big picture and it's rather ugly at the moment.

18. So you're ignoring the big picture |
|
Yes, it's a two party systen, but if I thought the two parties only represented 4% of the people, there's no way I would want my name associated with them. I might vote for one of them, but I would not IDENTIFY as one of them.
I have voted for candidates on the Working Families Party (in NYS) ticket, but I dont consider myself a member of their party. I would never IDENTIFY myself with a party that "cave to everything the Republicans want", etc. IOW, I disagree with your claims, and if I did agree with your claims, then I wouldn't call myself a democrat

I guess it's a good thing that every human is different. There are still democratic core values that I hold dear. That doesn't mean that the party is doing a bang up job of representing those values at the moment. And having recognized this does not mean I must now jump ship just because that is what you would do. I choose to recognize the problems and work with those that I feel have the best chance of bringing change. That sure isn't the Republican party.
I won't choose cognitive dissonance. I cannot reconcile with some of our candidates who run on a platform of Profit trumps health care, Profit trumps domestic jobs, Power trumps peace. So I'll work democrats who will help restore the party's humanity and dignity.
I ask again, who are you to question what party I belong to?

21. That would all make perfect sense |
|
if you didn't hold the extreme position that the Dem party represents, at most, 4% of the people.
You hold dem core values dear, but it's obvious you don't think the dem party does. Yet, you identify with them.
If you hadd said that you felt the dems were doing a poor job representing you, that they were weak and didnt have a clue, I could see why you might want to remain a dem. But to think that they don't represent you at all, and to think they don't want to represent you at all, and still consider yourself one of them is absurd.
And if you want to work with dems you approve of fine. That doesn't mean you have to identify yourself with a party that doesn't represent you.
"I ask again, who are you to question what party I belong to?"
I am questioning your reasons for why you call yourself a democrat

you have no right to question why I call myself a democrat. I was trying to be polite answering you to begin with. Now I realize that I don't care whether you understand me or not.
Just remember that trying to infer that I'm not a democrat will get you in some trouble in these parts. I hope that isn't what you are doing.

26. Its really strange, I have not seen any of the other candidates... |
|
supporters saying who is or isn't a democrat, questioning someone else because they don't like their candidate. Why is it that you see this all of the time with allot of Clinton supporters around here? I don't know why they feel they have any right on who is what, maybe their personal lives are lacking and they feel unimportant and need to find a place to claim some unwarranted power? Who knows, don't sweat it, ignore it.

but the truth is, your remarks about how the party's only support 4% of the people was an exageration motivated by emotion and not the facts and you are too proud to admit that. Instead, you give a bunch of "reasons" which, though reasonable, neither explain nor justify your belief that they only represent 4%

I guess some of the candidates lied last night when they flat out told me that I wasn't being represented in government because of the corporate lobbyists. Maybe you have a shitload of money and that's why you don't feel left out of the process. You have your beliefs. I have mine. That's one of the great things about this country.
But now I've got a great question for you now.
Are you an American?
Last night you said that "DU won't be happy, but Americans will". I certainly can't take your arguments seriously.

that I believe we have TWO parties that represent 4% of the people and 100% of the corporations, even tho I have a hard time really believing we have a two party system anymore.
I think most of the people are basically unrepresented period in this country.

|
http://www.actblue.com/page/du-presidentialTake a good look as she is at the bottom of all in there. That blows a big hole in any poll you come up with siting her as being 80% approved.

14. This isn't asking if you will or will not vote for her. |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-29-07 02:42 PM by FREEWILL56
It's asking do you align yourself with the things she does and the views she has. Does she represent in her governmental actions the people's views in your opinion? Voting for her in primaries and GEs are a different question and you by throwing the election stuff into this may be changing how people see the question in this poll. Do you or don't you like her as presidential material?

But I know plenty of perfectly reasonable Dems who refuse to vote for her for no reason other than "they don't like her" or "she's a bitch" or something.
I just don't want to vote for her in the primaries because I can't imagine that hostility magnified on a a national scale. Do you think she's really going to win red states? She's like the antichrist over there.

20. Overall, I'd say favorable |
|
She has a Presidential personality and would be a tough campaigner. Some of her votes lately have shown she hasn't abandoned progressives, though I think her vote on Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps was a big mistake. And sometimes I think she just thinks she knows better.
